Has anyone replaced the 2012 HU and retained all of the steering wheel controls? If so ...., well how do I do this? I did a search and couldn't find a definitive answer. Thanks.
when you replace the HU, you will lose some stuff, that stuff is some of the car data features. You can use the audio controls via special connectors manufactures have made for this purpose. Each non Toyota HU should come with them or bought separately.
I understand this, but the trip and display selection (right side of steering wheel) now goes through the HU on the 2012 and newer. I was hoping to hear from someone who has replaced their HU and retained these controls.
I think you still have control over those functions, but only on the heads-up display and not the HU radio's screen.
So I can still change the top display, select trip a or b, etc using the steering wheel controls on the right side of the steering wheel?
Yes I think that is correct, the left steering wheel operate the audio. The right controls will still work on the dash display.
