Hey everyone! I bought my brand new Prius c on Monday of this week. I found these two matched plastic parts in a blue bag in my hatchback area, along with four large-ish screws. Anyone know what they are or what they're for? I've tried googling them, to no avail. Codes printed on them: First one: 53851-52190 >PP + E/P< 9R Second one: 53852-52180 >PP + E/P< 9L Any hints or ideas are welcome!
Google to the rescue.... LINER EXTENSION LEFT for 2012 Toyota Prius C|53852-52180 Now, as to why they're there....... (?)
Right, I tried googling, and I got various results like that. But they don't help explain what these parts are for or even where they go. I can't even find them in that diagram. What exactly is a "Linear extension"?
What did they dealer say? Could always just walk into the parts dept and ask. Might want to look at the car itself. It's new and should be relatively clean. You'll either see that there's a duplicate part there, or that they are missing....
I haven't asked the dealer yet. I'll do that if I don't see anything conclusive here. They're about 20 minutes of a drive away, and I don't want to bother if it's not important. I'm still not sure, even after looking at #11 on the diagram, where exactly to look. Perhaps that spot would be behind the fender? Not sure if I'd be able to get access.
Looks like it should be at the bottom front of the inner fender liner: like a bracket or reinforcing support.
This part is actually called the air deflector for the rear wheel to improve aerodynamic. It should have been installed by the dealer and not left laying around.
It is indeed part #11. It goes upfront (left and right side), underneath the car just like how that diagram is showing.
There are 3 or 4 posts on this. Some with pictures of the befores and after. they go in front of the wheels.
Ah, the good old tyre spats again. This thread also had photos pre- and post- install: Tire Splats | PriusChat
