I accidentally dropped my keys with my bike lock inside the car..and then tried to lock the door by touching the indentations ...Prius was beeping as if crying..I did not realize for a few seconds and tried to grab my keys from my pocket..and thats when i realized its inside the car...very impressed !!

Yep, it won't let you lock a key fob in the passenger compartment. It was beeping at my wife when she tried locking the Prius because my fob and fallen down between the seat and center console.

If you bought your car new, I'm dismayed to hear that your dealer didn't demonstrate this for you at pickup time.

My salesman went out of his way to throw both keys into the trunk area and to lock the trunk via the black button on the trunk (Gen 2 Priuses w/SKS have 3-door SKs only and have back buttons on the 3 doors).

Technically, you can lock a FOB in the car. It can only be done with the lock button on the second FOB, though.

There's plenty of dealer that won't do this bc they don't know themselves. Matter of fact, I had to show them some of the features and how it works.

Are you sure of this? I've never tried, but I remember reading a thread here where the OP couldn't lock the door, and found out that the wife left an extra fob in her purse in the car.

Not unless you wrap the fob in foil or some other RFI shielding so the car doesn't detect the fob in the passenger compartment.

No, at least on 2012's. You can lock a FOB in the car with the second FOB. You must use the lock button on the second FOB. If you use the SKS you will get the long beep warning that there is a FOB in the car. If you use the lock button on the FOB it will lock just fine.

I just learned about this on another thread recently. I tried it this past weekend with my wife's purse with the second fob inside. The remote lock on my fob would allow me to lock all doors with the second fob inside.

My wife has been having to carry her purse with her for over 3 years now since the SKS would not let me lock her fob inside :)

I was in a hurry that other day as a thunderstorm was imminent and got out, ran into the house only to look back and see that I had left the headlights on. I was surprised to find that my Prius shut them off for me!

Yes, default setting is 90 seconds after car is turned off, the lights turn off. That's why the car doesn't beep at you to remind you they are on when you lock the car.
