I once did a search for "death or serious injury" in a pdf version of an owners manual to see how many times that phrase was used. If they left out all the absurd warnings ( "Cars are heavy! Don't run over your foot!" ) and similar, that would save a significant percentage of the weight of the manual. I wonder how many gallons of gasoline are used annually by US passenger vehicles just carting that phrase around the country. Richard
^^^ I'm sure the above is because of the litigious nature of American society and not helped by the infamous McDonald's hot coffee lawsuit. Hence we have lots of disclaimers, warnings, etc. and drool-proof paper.
