I'll be leaving my Prius v unused for a month as I'll be travelling. Do you think I should have the battery disconnected or use a battery trickle charger? I wrote an email to Toyota and here is what they replied:
I left mine sitting for 3 weeks last summer and experienced no issues at all. I did disable the keyless entry system via the radio settings. My 12v battery still showed 12.6-12.7v after 3 weeks. The traction battery still had about the same state of charge. I think you will be fine.
As the car (and the 12v battery) is fairly new, there should be no problem, but I wouldn't say the same when the battery gets to 3 or 4 years old. You could always leave one of those 12v jump start battery packs in the car just in case.
