Hey friends, My 2007 Prius is about to pass 70,000 miles so I called up my dealer to get a quote about a PCV valve replacement. I had 2 service reps say the Prius DOES NOT have a PCV valve! Please tell me that I'm not crazy. I have looked at the gracious list of services needed and not needed and want to make sure that I'm on track. Thank you much, JG
That is indeed troubling. Maybe they should check with a mechanic before stating what you want can't be done.
Thanks for your responses, guys! I thought I wasn't crazy. Guess I'll have to take my business elsewhere.
This is not difficult to do at all. In fact, I replaced mine at the same time I replaced the spark plugs using e instructions on the forums. The valve itself was under $15. It took maybe 30 minutes start to finish to replace it.
The PCV is actually easy to replace, tricky to get to. The approach from the left side is difficult. Approach it from the front and you have more room. I ended up cleaning mine, shaking it up and down to test it and ended up reinstalling it and saving the new one for the next owner.
