Just bought a 2013 Prius Touring Model (Canadian Model). I was worried about the quality of the Audio system, actually surprised for a non JBL system, the sound is really good (I have hd radio and xm radio). My Previous car was a Nissan Maxima with the Bose sound System. I have had the car for 3 days now I am loving it. I have one gripe with the navigation screen, the Glare during the day, cannot see anything on the screen.
When we got 2010 Touring model they included JBL sound system, so I checked Toyota Canada website and yes: it's not in 2013 Touring package, they've been juggling things a bit. The dash displays are one of my grips too, recall driving on wet roads with bright sunshine, could not even read the speedometer. All-in-all though, we're very pleased with ours.
Yes I have to agree all in all it's a great car. Is it possible to have an anti glare screen installed On the navigation screen.
Did you notice they added a "Plus" Package too? body kit + "unique finish" 17" alloys. Pricey for just those items. I didn't "rust proof" mine.
They've removed the illuminated door sills back in 2012. They've been decontenting in an attempt to keep the price low.
I wonder if the lowering springs and the tweaked suspension is part of it. I hope so otherwise it is very pricey. I guess they left out the JBL audio thinking that the target demographic want a custom system anyways. Looking at the Toyota.ca website, the Plus pkg is REALLY barebones. For the same price as the touring, the Touring is a no-brainer.
I think the Touring is the best deal , it doesn't have the JBL , to get the JBL you have to go with the Technology model ,which is even more pricey. They have a 1500 discount on the Plus Package , I haven't seen one myself maybe it looks good I guess.
I agree. It's the base model with a bodykit and rims. For that price, the US' PPP looks more enticing. The Touring used to include the JBL audio. Now it's the same price but without it and a few other items, so in other words, the cost went up. However, you do get the cool LED parking lights. (the forward facing one).
Congrats.. something about the word "touring" is attractive. Maybe it's a European things.. My old BMW wagon was also know also "touring" model. See the Prius Chat store for glare screen. Glare is an annoyance but IMHO so is the ugly screen.
I think that's the same audio system as my car (Plug-in Prius Base), and I really like it also. I am surprised people sometimes complain about it. It has plenty of base. Maybe the mids could be a bit more precise, but they have to make some concessions for weight as well. I'm also finding that it has a pretty good tuner. I pick up more FM/HD stations more clearly than my previous car (Honda Civic). My other car has an Alpine, and I don't feel any need to upgrade the Prius. Congratulations on your Prius and welcome!
Thank you, I am enjoying the Prius very much, just filled up my first tank today was presently surprised, coming from a Nissan Maxima.
