yeah... thise rebates either from gov or state, you dont get them instantly.

so you will have to have responsibility on full 40k price tag for minimum of 3 yrs or so.

    truth hurts

The $7500 government one is only until you file your taxes for the year of purchase. Whether or not is applicable to a specific person is up to that person to find out from the tax preparer before purchase but even if one were ton buy on January 1st of a particular year, I don't see waiting approximately 13-15 months a long time to get back $7500 from the Feds. Can't speak for the incentives California gives since I dont live there but I find it crazy for a state who needs money to give money away like that but that's for another thread. YMMV

I remember GM recently refusing warranty repairs based on the problem being labeled a "design decision" rather than a manufacturing defect.

LOL. In other words, GM expected the car to be a POS.

F8L, think long and hard before you give so much of your money to GM. In fact, expect to be screwed.

Maybe he has a subconscious desire to trade girlfriends too. Or did he already go homeless after the previous car trade, freeing himself from that particular restriction?

I wasn't aware that F8L shared with PriusChat how that incident ended. Actually, I thought the thread had been deleted.

I think F8l wants us to convince him not to do it. Otherwise his girlfriend will have to and he doesn't want to be immasculated again.

If it was deleted, it was at the OPs request and we found it an acceptable request.

More than acceptable. I was having nightmares that the GF might see it.

But if one adjusts their withholding (or estimated payments, as their situation indicates) , one can recover the $7500 over the year. As good as it feels to get a big refund at tax time, it is not exactly the most financially prudent thing to do.

And that may be why we found it an acceptable request! lmao

Not everyone sees things in a "most financially prudent thing to do".

Sometimes if you're just not happy with a vehicle or want something different which may better suit ones needs... If one could swing making the change they want to make, who cares in the end.

Yes, unexpected things can happen toward the end of the year which lead to a big refund, but I was thinking more of folks who deliberately tweak their withholding in order to get a big refund. :)

That sounds like Toyota and the unintended acceleration lawsuits and recalls.

    LOL! Maybe that's the reason...

Yeah, it sounds like he might need approval from the GF first before taking the plunge... I remember the deleted thread.

Apparently I missed the best parts while vacationing, off grid (really just off-line), returning too late to see the whole story.

    the prob is....

it clearly says UP TO $7500.

that means ut is nit guaranteed for you to be eligible for that credit.

you maybe able to get some but nit the whole 7500.

He's better off with the PIP then. There's more room to sleep in it than a Volt.

Sorry if I offended anyone when I posted my smarta** remark. I didn't realize the thread had been deleted at F8L's request; I was just going from memory.

I got 34,350 last month for my PIPa as a trade for the Rav4EV. I jumped on that trade offer...
