How can I mod the DRL to have it on at all time? (for 2013 models)

I am trying to get my DRL running all time even with low beam or with signal lights on. I know on 2012 models you can put a relay and easily have the DRL running as soon as the car starts. But on 2013 they added a option where you can switch on the DRL or have the DRL shut off manually..
    has anybody looked into this?

I'm relatively new...just bought mine. So anyone prove me wrong or correct me. I'm okay with that.
But if you want DRL on all the time couldn't you just leave the stalk turned to DRL all the time?

The lights auto turn off in 30 seconds if you don't physically turn them off, so if you just leave the DRL's on, then they will always be on when you start the vehicle.

Yes, but I want them to be on with Low Beam engaged. The DRL will shut off if you turn low beam on.

Get the manual from Toyota online and modify your car to match the Canadian wiring diagram (which is included in the shop manual - it has both US and Canadian versions in there).
Note that Canadian cars do not have separate DRL lamps. We use the headlamps at half power wired in series I believe.
Note also that DRL does not apply when the headlamps are turned on. DRL means lamps on in front when the lights are not turned on.

What you really seem to want to do is turn on the US separate DRL lamps all the time. That should be relatively simple with a relay activated by "accessory" power.

If you can't figure it out on your own using the schematics don't attempt it! It requires some knowledge of basic electrical wiring and electronics. If you just go in and try by guessing you could end up costing yourself a lot of money. There are some very expensive modules in the Prius!

Sorry should of read your post with more care.
I honestly don't know, but judging from given advice seems like a lot of work/risk for very little change in function.

Can't help you with what you want to do, but 2012 also has DRLs that can be turned on and off manually, too.

    Hmmm that's interesting to know.
Why the prius I saw doesn't have this option and it was a 2012

In order to keep the DRLs on all the time u have o rewire them & this will include removing ur front bumper. There have been a few members tat have talked about this but to my knowledge nobody has co pleated this mod yet.

Even if you successfully manage to rewire your DRLs to stay on with your low beams they wouldn't dim like properly designed OEM LED DRLs. You would be shining glare at oncoming drivers. Pretty rude just to look cool IMHO.

    Here ya go, looks awsome
    No fog light needed
Just tap the LED relay to any on going power source. So when you turn on your car, it goes on, when you turn off your car, it shuts off

Two things, please post which wire you tapped and also please post a pic of the DRLs straight on at night from above the cutoff level of the low beams.

I'm willing to bet that the glare from the DRLs will be evident in that the DRLs will appear brighter than the low beams.
