I got a quote for replacing the windshield for $185 for my 2012 Prius V. I was a little shocked at how low it is. I asked the guy if the windshield is new, good quality and safe and he assured me it is. I also got another quote for $500 from another place. What do you think?
They have 81 yelp reviews with 4.5 stars avg. I think the people there are immigrants with limited English skills and may charge less than the usual glass shops. Would they put an unsafe windshield into your car? Is there any kind of minimum standard out there that they must meet? AD Auto Glass - Garden Grove, CA
I know places like Autolite average around $2-300 installed except for specific really expensive windshields. Average is around $190 or so for several people I know installed. So that's not a real surprise to me.
well, i don't know anything about the glass, it's hard to believe there are very many places that would make it. but they can certainly cut corners on installation.
I have had 2 windshields over the years installed by safelite, and I know 1 other. I also know 3 body shops in the area that all use them for their replacement. I don't know of any issues with any of them. I watched them do one of mine, it really didn't take him long but he was very professional, but very quick. I was the first of the day for him, he showed up at 8:00 in the morning and had 8 others to do that day all loaded in his work fan ready to go. Speaking for myself, I will use them in the future.
I have a client (TechnaGlass) who may have corporate locations our franchises near you. He does a once a month sale where if you schedule that day it's $148 installed (excluding tax). Look them up and if you need details on the next sale date let me know. DROID RAZR HD ? 2
i had my accord's windshield replaced before. they have an OEM equivalent brand and for I think it was like $20 (yes twenty dollars) more, they have an AP Tech brand. From the research that I've gathered, AP Tech manufactures glass for MANY car brands. The car manufacturer just rebrands it. It wasn't expensive, def. less than $200 (for AP Tech).
