Suggestions for a Prius steering wheel cover

My Wheelskins cover fits great and has the added benefit of covering that cheap silver plastic bits at the bottom of the wheel.

Here is a pic of a charcoal gray one installed:



I actually took this picture because I had a problem with "bunching" at the 7 o'clock to 8 o'clock position with this installation. I sent Wheelskins an email and they sent me another one in Black (I requested black, as I wasn't happy with the charcoal gray color) and I love the Black one.

 

You might be able to find them in automotive specialty stores, but the price would likely be high. Even if you order through Amazon or eBay, it will probably be drop shipped directly from Wheelskins.

I purchased from an eBay seller, but the cover came shipped from Wheelskins, and I dealt directly with Wheelskins for my fitment issue. Your receipt will have an order number, so just refer to that if you need any customer service from Wheelskins. Wheelskins has great customer service, they will send you another cover or thread if either should break during the installation.

I've installed Wheelskins on at least 6 different vehicles and only had a problem that one time with the gray cover. They sent me a new cover fast at no cost to me.

 

I knit a steering wheel cozy for my 2005. That's not everyone's cup of tea, though.

I've also used Wheelskins and liked them.

 

I have the Wheelskins Europerf two tone installed. It definitely feels better than the stock steering wheel. Take your time with the install so you can avoid bunching as much as possible.

It makes the Prius steering wheel nice and fat, as as I mentioned earlier, it covers the smooth plastic parts at the bottom of the wheel.

 

Did you ever end up ordering one of these steering wheels from the website you provided?

If yes, can you answer the following:

-Which specific size did you order?
-Which specific model (via the link you provided) did you get? Can you please copy and paste the product title from the website?
-How do you like it? Better than wheelskins?

I'm just so sick of buying and returning steering wheels since none in the stores fit!

I know this thread is a bit stale, but I'm also curious if you tried the Toyota cover? Also, has anyone installed a Euro-two-tone Wheelskin? How does it look in how the color seams on the 7:00 and 5:00 position line up (or don't line up) with the silver-metalic bottom two spokes?

Stick with the Leather and Lace up covers. They have great color, fit nice, lacing can be a challenge, but you figure it out soon enough! These last forever, and just get better with time!

I figured out something that worked for me: (I know this post is a little old, but have not seen this solution posted yet)

I picked up a leather cover at a local car shop a while ago. It installed loose and stayed loose. I have hunted around the net for different ideas and nothing really gelled. As it so happens I was at a hardware store the other day getting some clear vinyl hose for a syphon that I have. I noticed they had larger hose and then the idea hit me that I could use the hose to fill-up the looseness I felt from the steering wheel cover. I bought about 4 feet (3/4" id I believe, about $5) of hose. I took the hose home and cut it into about 5" lengths and then cut open the hose along the lengths. Then I slipped each one of the pieces in between the steering wheel and the cover. It has filled up the space, Invisible to the eye, No more lose fit. I hope it will last a long time.

Hope this idea helps someone. I can post a picture if anyone is interested.

I like my wheelskins cover.

If you get one, I would recommend searching every thread you can find here about installation, as well as going to youtube and looking up videos.

Installation was tedious, demanding and time consuming.

I would almost say, it takes one time to practice...and another time to do it right.

If I was ordering again? I think I'd ask and pay for an extra spool of thread.

Once installed? I love it. But the hours I spent trying to stitch on the waxed thread and the cover to the wheel?

It wasn't a fun experience.

I still have the charcoal gray cover. You will have to write an email to Wheelskins requesting another lacing thread and needle to install it. Their email address is on their website.

Just tell them you removed it from your previous car and want to reinstall it.

This is a closeup of the baseball stitch I used installing my Wheelskins on my Camry. Normally two needles and threads are required, but the Prius only requires two needles and the one thread folded in half.

I use that old school lace-up wheel cover (Sport Grip) I had to search a while to find a place that still makes it. Don't know why it's not still all over the place...inexpensive, looks and feels good, and it lasts.

I loved the Wheelskins I had in my '10. I am thinking of getting one for my '14 now.

I had the one in the '10 professionally installed and, looking at the photos, seem to think that was the right move.
