I just went to my mechanic to check my brakes. I have driven over 60000 miles with the pads, mostly city and they still have probably 5000-10000 miles. I don't think I have ever changed the shoes in the back and the car is 130 000 miles! I am amazed! How often did you have to change pads/shoes in your prius? Also, the car is 2007 and I am still driving with the original 12v battery. I am guessing it will be due soon for replacement. (I am not sure if it matters, but the car has a Hymotion pack installed in 2010 @55000 miles). Oil. How often do you change it? What brand and viscocity do you use? I change it every 7000 miles, Mobil1 extended performance 5w-30, same brand oil filter. I am almost at my 7000 miles and my oil looks clean (golden brown/caramel color). Should I go more miles? I appreciate your answers! Samsung Galaxy S III
my 04 w/ 95,000 miles still had original brakes when we sold it and the battery was just starting to go in 2012. changed the oil every 5,000 with factory spec. all the best!
I have a 2008 w/266,179 miles on it. I've never changed the 12V battery or have done anything with the brakes. I change the oil at 10k miles and check it every 1k and add oil if necessary. I use Mobil 1 5w/30 full synthetic.
2008, 190K, No brake work, changed 12v for maintenance in the fall along with the fob batteries. Use 5W30 synth, 8K intervals, does not use a qt between changes.
So I can easily go 8000 miles. I will check how is my battery next time I change the oil. Thanks for the input fellas! Samsung Galaxy S III
