Mine is not replacing anything. Just an additional car to take miles off of my Jeep Wrangler.

Traded in 1996 Corolla DX wagon. Very reliable but getting old and needed to spend lots of money for repairs. Recently purchased 2010 Gen III with 22,000 miles.

Traded an 89 BMW750il for the prius. Started costing me a few dollars in repairs so i bit the bullet and bought the prius. Huge difference in fuel economy compared to a v12.

Well, I put large pick-up on the poll because we traded our 2007 GMC Sierra, but we also sold our 2007 Honda Fit. Had three cars, only really need two, so the Prius replaced a gas guzzler and an economy car...

We bought this car brand new.

At the time, we could've opted for a flex fuel version, but we didn't.

This was the car we brought our son home from the hospital in.

An engine later, a couple of hundred thousand miles later, 1 new radiator overflow tank, 2 used, three sets of spark plugs and spark plug wires...

A little bit of me died the day the Goodwill crew towed it away.

But, at $10 a day for the commute, it was killing me, even when it did run.

Love my (new to me) 2002 Prius with 66 thousand miles on it.

    It has

    working heat
    working air
    working brakes

And, when the gas engine stops, it still works. The 2nd engine in the Taurus used to stop all of the time, but that only meant the car quit working.

I replaced a 1997 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport. Loved the car but the VERY best tank I could get was less than 28 mpg calculated (reason I bought my first scangauge). Gave the Subaru to my stepson when I picked up the Prius. He doesn't know beans about car maintainance and the car no longer looks fresh off the showroom floor. Dings, dents, rust, knocking engine, even electrical tape over the check engine light. Remember "de nile" isn't just a river in Africa.
Gave the scangauge to my daughter who has improved the mileage in her Saturn by over 25%.

I was driving my 2006 F150 supercrew mostly around town. Figured it was costing me $100 a month gas just to errands. I was even trying use my motorcycle to commute when I had to go to work but that was horribly inconvenient. Now the prius lets my drive my bike mostly for fun and gives it a run for its money on mileage.

A 2006 Diesel smart fortwo. 0.8L Turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, mated to a 6-speed semi-automated transmission... the whole setup is far too complicated for it's own good. After nearly 300 000 km and $15 000 in repairs, we decided to move to something reliable. The mileage of the Prius can't match the smart, but it's the closest thing that was available.

Replaced a 2007 dodge ram 1500 that avgd 12.3 mpg over 93k miles. Prius has averaged 46.5 over last 29k. Big savings since I've had it only a year.

I replaced my beloved 2005 dodge magnum rt awd of 5 years. With a 2008 Prius W/87000 K. I went from 12 mpg avg to 40 mpg avg on the same trips. I enjoy my Prius but, I do miss the sound and feel of that HEMI !!!!!!!
Ride and handling and getting in and out are pretty much equal.

Well, our Prius replaced a Chrysler Town & Country. The Chrysler T&C replaced a Mazda MPV. We drove the MPV for a long time and bought it new. We traded for the T&C but disliked the poor mileage - 14 MPG in town, so decided to downsize and went with the Prius. I miss the extra room, but I sure don't miss the big numbers at the gas pump. It was the wife's idea to get the Prius. I have always wanted one, but never drank the kool aid. I am very thankful that we have what we do today. We travel a lot to East Texas and back (250 miles round trip roughly). The Prius is a excellent vehicle on the road and is very comfortable to drive long distances even for this old man. I don't worry about the price of fuel now. I just buy it when the gage hits two pips and go on down the road.

Just got me a 06 Prius with 59k miles and I am very excited.
This car is to replace my 04 matrix xrs which was not a bad car at all.
Been thinking to get a hybrid for long long time and finally pull the trigger. Hope I make the right move.

After spending around $500 a month for gas on my Dodge Ram Truck, I said Enough is Enough. My truck was getting 14-15 mpg, now I'm getting 46 mpg. Still have the truck, but it feels nice to save money on gas.
