Prius c reliability - better info

With the help of people from this forum, TrueDelta has been providing reliability stats on the regular Prius for a few years now, with an update every quarter to track the cars closely as they age.

We'd like to do the same for the Prius c--just a matter of getting enough owners involved.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, following the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the Prius c for free. I'll share results for the Prius c in this thread after each update.

We do have some initial information. With 17 owners reporting, none had a repair through the end of September. The regular Prius has been very reliable, and the c could be at least as good.

 

We have an updated reliability stat for the 2012 Prius c based on owner experiences through December 31, 2012.

With 30 owners participating, not a single repair was reported during 2012.

We've posted an updated stat to the site. With 34 owners participating, no repairs were reported through the end of March for the 2012 Prius c.

We'll have further updates in August and in November. We especially need more participants for the 2013 and up.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2012 Prius c: no repairs reported, 43 cars

2013 Prius c: 0, low, very small sample size
2012 Prius c: 3, low

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2012 Prius c: 96, < 1

We'll have further updates in February and in May. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be.
