Last Wednesday I gave up my 2007 BMW 328xi. I had all of the classic feelings of grief: Anger, sadness, depression, questioning. The BMW was great in snow, quite, smooth, and could haul nice person. I gave up leather heated seats and a manual 6 speed as well...however the Prius C has been a glorious investment. I squeezed 66 MPG on the way from work Friday. It's a 27 mile commute, with about 17 of it highway. I'm pumped for all the cash I'm going to save. Even though the performance is pretty terrible, It's a fun car to drive. It has snappy turning, and its fun to manipulate the engine to drive on only electricity. I'm glad I finally realized what a waste and a scam the BMW is.
Anger? I'm not sure it's one of the feelings you go through when trading a car, unless you're upset at the deal you got. You made a great move, and you'll definitely save money on fuel! At around 4 bucks a gallon again... you'll really enjoy that kind of excellent MPG!!! I would have gone with the Prius c Four, so you wouldn't have to give up the feel of "leather" and those heated seats... but the c is the most frugal way to commute in a car at a reasonable price. I've driven a couple of cs and never found the performance close to "pretty terrible" in any of the situations that I experienced, from city traffic to highway conditions. I imagine it might approach "pretty terrible" on a track day if not properly prepared, but then again, it's not designed for racing! Impressive mileage so soon after transitioning to your new c! You are a natural. Congratulations, on many levels.
Congrats! As B. Roberts said - you're a natural. After a year I'm happy when I see anything above 52 MPG. But it's a lot better than my old Prizm.
as much as I enjoy the prius, I still need a 2nd car that gets me excited. I enjoy going out for a drive if the weather is nice, hitting up the local mountains for a few hours.
