Our PIP has become completely EV for my short runs around town now that the temps are above freezing. It's pretty dramatic. It looks like we might achieve the fabled 1000 mile tank soon. For this tank, at 300 or so miles, I'm at 93 MPG avg. Anyone else seeing a dramatic shift with the warmer weather? I'm thinking about a block heater for next winter.
Having already been through the full seasonal cycle... experiencing snow and the arrival of spring last year... I can provide a big "U Betcha!" EV range increases with the warmth. It's a very nice change from winter. That tank (which obviously could have been 921 miles) was my best from last year... and likely will be my longest ever. In the summer, I take lots of highway trips, some carrying bikes on back or kayaks on top. So, it's just not realistic of an expectation. Running errands late in the evening using nothing but electricity is an entirely different matter, especially with the daylight lasting so long. It makes window-down driving a delight.
i'm seeing a small change. my 7 mile trip to work left me with 5.7 miles of range at the lowest this winter. last night, at 59 degrees, i had 7.3 miles left. still not enough to get me home without a little recharge. as i recall, there was a dramatic dip somewhere around 70 degrees last fall. that's when i was no longer able to make the round trip on one charge.
Yes!!!! Today was the first day I made it all the way to kids daycare (downhill and 7.6 miles)) without ICE coming on. Most days I could barely make it off the my street this winter and some days couldn't even do that. Current tank has 72 miles on it and I am averaging 104 MPG. I am so glad spring is here.
