Can not believe it. 97 MPG for 7.9 Miles for in-town trip, Speed around 35 MPH. Outside temp is 61 F. Car started hot (just came back from work). Love it.
It finally warmed up here today- 60's in the morning, 79 deg this afternoon- 96mpg at the completion of my 58 mi round trip to work!
Yea! Just rub it in, we are suppose to get 6-12 inches of snow Wednesday & Thursday and 20-30 mph winds and I took my snow blower off two weeks ago and put the grass attachment on. I suppose I have to put the blower back on! ugh!
I'm praying for you brother! Winter lasted forever here this year- just last week we still had a couple of nights that dipped down into the 20's!
Even in HV, the system will take advantage of plug-supplied electricity. The engine is off, but you aren't really in EV, since the speed & power thresholds are lower. That's the point of being a hybrid. This mode is referred to as "Stealth". As for the temperature of 61°F... Whoa! That sure would be nice.
Yeah, my mpg is improving too. Amazing how temperature changes can help in our hybrid daily driving....
I finally figured out the meaning of that intriguing term. For my fellow clueless new Prius owners: In HV mode, keep the bar on the Hybrid System Indicator to the left of the midpoint and the car will run on battery (small EV icon appears) as long as there's enough charge in the hybrid part of the battery bank. It may be necessary to back off completely on the accelerator pedal for a moment to get into stealth mode. That's the most likely explanation for the OP's 97 mpg.
Yes, I did see the EV Eco on a lot of times. I intentionally kept the bar in the hybrid indicator as left as possible (speed allowed)
Just a minor point: the battery is not physically partitioned into HV and EV parts. It's one big battery, and the control unit manages it in an EV or HV manner based on how much charge is in the battery, along with a bunch of other factors.
Clear and sunny here in So. Cal., shorts and t-shirt, top-down-on-the-Miata kind of weather. 81 degrees.
. At that point in time did your EV/HV ratio show. 0% / 100%. Respectively. If there was any EV usage, you were not totally in HV. Of course your figures are still impressive.
