The 2mm difference in diameter wouldn't make a huge difference in ring's the usefulness as a centering aid.

Lol sorry for the delay but I could honestly care less about the Prius and its “gaping holes" lol. Your thinking too much into this and your wish for measuring performance results?

We have a Subaru if we want performance. This is a Prius bro. How's your track car coming along? Mine is just about done. I had a thread in nasioc somewhere.

Again I'm not too worried about having to wipe crud off the wheel or hub. The stock caps really looked cheap and reminded me of something my parents would rock.

I am actually looking into sti wheels for this Prius. If you saw my last thread my 08 Prius had the older wrx wheels. Now that would be cool!. Making them fit is another thread for later

My STi wheels fit the Prius, or at least the 17x8" Motegi's with snow tires (off the STi), worked great.
Did you see my attempt at humor with the flames on my Prius?

I don't like hubcaps either, removed them the 2nd day I got the car. You can get OEM Toyota center caps that are 2.5 inch in diameter from eBay off Camry, solara, etc that fits perfectly. Bought a set of used ones for $20, just pop them in, looks really good. No more gaping hole! As a plus, I can still pop the plastic covers back on for those rare long freeway trips without removing the center caps - they are supposedly for fuel efficiency. The cover does not touch the center caps.

Are you talking hubcaps or center caps? They are not the same. Sounds like you have alloy wheels so you could not have ever removed the hubcaps...

I got the v 3 so I remove the plastic wheel cover and put in the center caps on the alloys underneath

This isn't making any sense to me. All my life, since 1960 (?) I have known hubcaps to conceal plain stamped steel wheels. You are saying that Toyota , since 2003, have hidden alloy wheels behind hubcaps on Priuses?

Well I wanted to update this thread earlier and show you the Project priuSTI. Well the bad news is that STI 5x114 wheels do not directly fit the Prius V like I was previously told So I had to machine the center hub of the wheels to make the STI BBS wheels fit.

Once machined I was able to get the wheels painted. They turned out great

And the Finished Product wrapped in Brigestone G-Force tires.

Let me know what you think,

Sorry if I gave bad advice. What I went by was that the cast, inexpensive, Tire Rack provided Motegi wheels I was using for my winter tires on the STi fit fine on my v (lowercase v for the Prius v). They were not the BBS stock STi wheels. The Motegi's have a larger hub hole ID.

I suppose I'm in the minority but I fail to understand modding a Prius that is built for mileage to make it more powerful and destroy your mileage? If you wanted a performance car why not buy a STI or a FR-S (which I had one and could get 35 MPG out of it).

As for the wheels and tires... These are the ones that came on my car from the factory.
