225/40/18 and 235/40/18 work for the liftback. Or 215/45/17 will work too and there are LRR options for both.

I was the one that posted that original thread. It's my firm belief it wasn't so much the rim diameter that killed my mileage as it was the non-LRR tires that were involved.

Here's why I say this--- To check this very thing, I tried pushing the car on my (concrete) driveway. Pretty hard to push. About the same as my Jeep, or any other small car.

After I got my money back and the stock tires put back on, did the same thing, pushed the car. Much easier to push, by at least half as much work.

 

I have a C2 and i don't like my ugly hubcap steel wheel things. How would I go about replacing the wheels? Will i need new tires if they are the same 15''? Will this affect the regenerative breking? will it remove the tire pressure monitor? I'm confused.

 

The tire pressure monitors can be transferred over. Other than that, it is the same as any other car.

 

Very true. But by pushing the car you did not get to experience the added weight that the power train has to rotate. When I changed the 18" rims on my Rodeo to 20" I lost 4 mpg. This was back in the day before LRR tires. You loss was probaly half and half. But these LRR tires and much better than conventional tires.

 

You can just look up your car on many rim websites. Most of them only have the 2012 Prius C listed. But its the same as the 2013 if you have that year. The size you will be looking for if you want to go with your stock tires is 15X5 to 15X6.5 no bigger. Most aftermarket wheels will be at least a 15X6.5.
Offset you will be looking for is around 40+ can be around 34-45 but stay as close to 40 as possible. Just make a call and they will tell you if they will fit or not.
bolt pattern is 4X100
15X6.5 40+ 4X100 is what it will look like. The stock tire pressure monitor might or might not work but there is aftermarket ones that will work.
Your regen braking will be fine.

If you order some rims online just take them to a tire store when they arrive and they will swap them out for your steel wheels. Or you could just go to a tire store to start with and let them do all the ordering and everything but it will cost a little more. I dont know how much they will cost to get installed, mounted and balanced.
But the new wheels will cost close to $400 at least.

 

I too am looking at changing the wheels of C. I love the look of 16-17" wheels but am not willing to take the drop in fuel economy.

I'm not sure with the C but the 2010 Prius 16' wheels actually have a slightly larger diameter than the 17s with low profile tyres.

the other thread the guy say the prius has 15x5 and the oem tires on a 15x6.5 rim will stretch the tire out and cause it to go flat, burst? Then another guy was saying you can put up to 15x7 on the 175/65r15? The rim's I've found are 15x6.5 like you said:

15x6.5 will be fine. Many people on this forum have done it.

 

I worked at a tire store for some time, there will be no problem what so ever getting a 6.5 I seen that discussion too and have no idea where they were getting there info.
