    Hello all,

I am finally able to afford a new car and I want a Prius. I test drove one recently and really liked it. I live in Sacramento and will be financing. I have great credit as well. I am willing to travel anywhere in California to get a great deal. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Most likely going with a Prius 2 or 3, but I sure do love the sport rims. What should I expect to pay?

I have had great success with Magnussen's Toyota in Auburn. Talk to "Fish" (Harlan Sacks) and Andy Guerrero. Tell them F8L (Justin from PriusChat) sent you.

Magnussen's Auburn Toyota 888-704-4216 Toyota Dealership Auburn serving Roseville Folsom Sacramento California

They are the only dealer that accurately quoted me for transaxle service in the entire Yolo/Sacramento/Placer County areas. They gave me a great deal on my 2012 PIP and they were listed as a PriusChat preferred dealer during the initial PIP launch. My buddy just bought a 2013 Avalon Hybrid from them too.

Alternatively, you can drive down to Carson, CA and talk to Dianne. She will hook you up with great prices, no haggling and awesome service. I heart Dianne. :)

You can try websites like TrueCar to see what people are paying and to learn invoice pricing for the specific vehicle and option list you are interested in. Costco is another good source if you are a member.

Thanks Justin. I will give both recommendations a try. Any others?

Try giving DianneWhitmire a call or send her a PM (conversation) on here asking what her price would be. Dianne is well respected on here and sells MANY Prius. She is located in Carson which I know is well south of Sacramento but if her price is appropriate trust me, making the trip down there to buy from her may be worth it.

Maybe you can price out a Persona series from her...

I wouldn't recommend any other dealers for various reasons. My favorites are Carson and Magnussen's.

I heard that Sunnyvale Toyota offers good prices as well as Vacaville Toyota. Ask for David Garske at Sunnyvale. He seems like a good guy.

Auburn generally beats Carson and our customer satisfaction is higher after the sale. We currently hold #4 out of 62 northern Ca and Nv dealers.

You don't need to travel to get a good deal, 750 back of invoice Is typical right now for a easy no fuss deal where your really not leaving money on the table. You can do a little better if you shop as I could even fine tune it a hair. A lot depends on if the unit is in stock and I don't have to spend a couple hundred on drivers to get the car and bring it in for you.

This is typical of all dealerships, unless your after a loss leader that may have scratches or a oddball color that doesn't sell well.

    very true

Los Angeles is a different car market with different factory incentive's, so they are able to beat us.

I paid 750 back of invoice just to keep it simple, but it wasn't the best deal here on a Persona.

I understand Santa Monica Toyota sells the most number of Priuses in the nation. However, when I was looking for my Prius, I was warned by more than a few friends that the number they quote me by phone or email will suddenly changed when I get there. The email I got was that they can match the number I got from another dealer but I have to come to the dealership to confirm the numbers. I thought that was too vague, so I never went, given what my friends previously told me. Of course, they could be very good, but I wasn't willing to deal with their vague email. Then, when I gave the same number to Marina Del Rey Toyota, the salesman said he couldn't match it. I would have gone to him anyway, even with his higher price (of only $100) as I thought he'd be straight with me. But I had a good connection at Power Toyota in Irvine (but he has since left there) so I ended up there.

But, I've been taking my car to Santa Monica Toyota for service for the past 2.5 years, and will recommend their service department (thus far).

That's just for the price of the car w/ mats. MSRP was $27,249 including destination. I paid an extra $350 for the blizzard pearl color, if not it would have been an even $24,000. I'll PM you the contact information for the sales person I worked with. According to the dealer, my deal was a negative loss for them and the only reason why they sold it to me for that price was to steal the business away from their competitors.

I got my Prius 3 Blizzard Pearl w/Solar Roof from Elk Grove Toyota earlier this month. I requested a quote online and worked with Scott Nanini from the Fleet dept. His quote was 25,285, already over $1000 less then the quotes I got from Maita, Roseville, Hanlees Davis, and Vacaville. I came in for a test drive w/o any push to buy. Scott was very pleasant to work with and didn't do any of the typical car salesman BS (what payment can you afford, we're losing money on this deal, etc). I only asked him to take the price down to $25k even and that wasn't a problem. I was out of there within about an hour. Sticker price was over $28k, invoice was around $27k. I got financed at 1.9% through TFS for 60 months.

    *All prices not including TTL

both deals mentioned appear to be very solid deals.

What do you think about a Blizzard Persona for 26,000 includes delivery fee...pay license, tax on top? That's what I was quoted.

26k seems like a good deal (btw, quotes should ALWAYS include the destination charge, and exclude tax and license). From what I understand you're getting the "leather" seats and steering wheel (I would LOVE a leather steering wheel) and the upgraded wheels. Whats the sticker price on the car you're looking at?

Wherever you end up buying from, make sure you're not wasting any money at the financing office on undercoating, extended warranty, and all of the other things they will tell you you're crazy for not buying.

I just checked Elk Grove's stock and it looks like they don't have any white Prius V's. Lots of silver ones though...

That's roughly what the sticker said on mine as well. 26k is a good place to start negotiating, it's already below invoice (don't worry the dealer is still making a profit because they have incentives from Toyota and a 3% holdback they get quarterly). You should be able to get it down to 25k. What does edmunds say the true market value is?
