Hello, I'm a new Prius owner and I have a question about the "Pulse and Glide" method. When gliding, do I have to press the accelerator slightly so that the display bar is within the first 1/4 of the EV area? If so, why is this better than just completely letter off the accelerator while coating?

    Thanks!

when you let off the accellerator, the car is regenerating electricity which slows you down and is not as efficient as gliding. try to keep it just to the right of line as you stated.

That makes sense. One more question, is the Pulse and Glide method effective at highway speeds (55MPH+)?

i don't use it, but there is some type of effective highway driving, super highway mode? hopefully someone will chime in or you can search the terms. i tend to drive the speed limit ata steady pace which yields 50-65 mpg's.

Super Highway Mode is not to be confused with Super Pursuit Mode... Just sayin :)

I believe this works best in Gen2 Prii, and Honda Civic Hybrids of similar vintage. It is sufficiently difficult in Gen3 that I don't bother.
