I get used to my Odyssey camera, which has lines to show the distance to objects behind. My basic PIP does not have the feature. I am thinking to draw some lines on a screen protector film, and attach it to the camera. It may be a great idea.
One thing I havent been able to confirm, but suspect, is that the camera is what produces the lines on the screen. For all the Prius owners who dont have a rear-view camera but install one, it sounds like the lines depend on the camera. For example: New camera install (Cheap Ebay cameras) | PriusChat Certainly sounds like that is the case though. If true, perhaps someone will replace the stock camera with one of these some day and confirm whether that is true or not.
If you put a screen protector on the camera with line on it, they will be out of focus and useless. You should put the lines on a screen protector on the display
I was also disappointed to see that the back-up camera didn't have any guide lines. Drawing lines on the actual camera will most definitely do nothing (they will be out of focus).
Exactly right. Some cameras have line generators built into them, actually all you would have to do is find a camera with lines, and if it could be mounted properly, just plug it in! I would just cut the old camera out , save the power and video cable, splice new camera into old wires. You now have lines!
