iPhone 4G, Entune and 2012 Prius 4

I can't address the exact questions- but I have an IPhone 4 running IOS 6 and it pairs fine my my 2013 Prius. The hands free phone works, voice dialing, streaming Bluetooth music and the Entune suite all works fine over the phone.

I will play with texts and report back- but I think I read my older IPhone wont support that feature ( no Siri). :-(

IPhone can read texts via Bluetooth. Go into settings, Bluetooth, show notifications = on.

That will allow all text messages to be read from your Prius touch screen.

It does have a respond capability but disabled with bluetooth it only works when our iPhone is connected via USB to the car

 

BTW, there is no "iPhone 4G". There are the iPhone 4, 4S and 5.

 

5S is rumored to release this June but possible slip to September

 

This did not work for me. My HDD radio B/T is still not reading back the SMS I receive on my iPHONE 4S.

 

Power down your iPhone, power back up and try again.

 

This is for reading text messages SMS.
I'm not familiar with Radio information being displayed. My Prius does not provide song and artist info.

 

Beautiful.. That worked ! Thanks for the help ! The only thing I noticed is you have to push the READ message on the touch screen. Is there a way to automatically set the system to read it out to me without me touching the screen?

also I tried to do the same with my wifes HTC EVO 3D and the text to voice doesn't work with that. Any idea what I am doing wrong here with her phone? Thanks

 

No auto feature. Keep in mind that if someone sends a messages that is confidential everyone in your car can see it. You want control of the display feature of th messages.

I'm not familiar with Android. We Are a iPhone family.

 

The "read" function you guys are talking about is only when plugged into USB right? My screen tells me I have a new message but I don't see a read button (connected via BT only).

 

Only way I got it to work was purchase the tethering/hotspot option from ATT. After that all the internet features (Traffic, Bing, Pandora) work fine via Bluetooth. No need to plug in the phone, a major annoyance.

 

I have a iPhone 4S. It connecets with my 2012 Prius via Bluetooth. I can read the text messages or have the car read it to me. I cannot respond to the text message with any of the pre written drafts the Prius provides. I understand the respond option will only work with the USB connection between the car and phone.

My work flow is I get the Text I'll have the car read it to me and respond when I can pull the car over in a safe place.

If it is urgent I can use SIRI on the phone and draft with my voice a response and send it with a SIRI voice command. However I do try and avoid this because it can be a distraction and that may lead to an accident so that is wise to pull over or wait until I'm home or at my office etc.

 

I am not connected via USB ..I see the READ button when connected via B/T.

 

Anyone with Android Phones?
1) I am not able to get the text her HTC EVO receives to be read from the screen.
2) I am not able to play music on her phone via the receiver / speakers..

anyone?

 

Try and do a seperate new thread, a HTC EVO resource will pick it up I'm sure.

Hmmm ill have to check this out further. I have a 4s and 2013 entune nav unit and get the text alert but no read button.

 

Yes Read should work with Bluetooth. Try and respond via the touchsceen?

 

I don't see a read button here. I deleted the device pairing and re-paired it and the same results. My settings are the same as the picture above. Any ideas? Do you have to have a tethering plan?

I even connected via USB with entune open and it was the same.
