I'm looking at a 2011 Prius Two with 63,000 miles, private party, asking price is $16,000
Carfax is clean, no accidents, car was bought Sept 2011, regularly setrviced at toyota dealer. Record shows a/c compressor was replaced at 18,000 miles.

Comes with 5 yr 125K toyota platinum extended warranty, so there's 3.5 years left on the warranty.

    My questions are:
    1. Is this a good price?
    2. What's the disadvantage of having this much highway miles (in such a short time) in a prius?
    3. What should i look out for in a 2011?

    thanks

    Steven

It's a fair buy if you will not be putting high miles on the car (like the current owner).
With gas prices above $4 in California I would think that Prius prices will be on the rise again.
But, a new Prius Two can be had for 22-23K and you can get better financing on the new one.

Well, more details would help. Was it garage kept, good wax on it? Dents, dings, scratches, paint chips? how does the floor mats look? Any other add ons? We're they smokers? Any rattles, squeaks, leaks? Rips, tears, dog or cat hair? How did it drive, any unusual noises? Engine oil look clean, right level? Engine compartment show signs of any leaks? Recall notices up to date? Ask to take it to your mechanic for a quick pre sale inspection.
Miles are not a concern, it is a very good year. You may be able to talk them into a break if some of the above are not good.
If it is in great condition not a bad deal.

kbb has it at $15,400 private party excellent condition, but I have not really seen anyone sell at blue book value.

I guess the real advice i'm looking for is if buying a 1.5 yr old car with 63,000 miles is a good idea since the price is pretty much ok considering the extended warranty and i haven't even asked to lower the price yet.

i drive around 10,000 miles a year, around 80% city driving.

In my opinion highway miles is less wear and tear than city driving. A 2 year old car for 50% off list is a good deal.

    Sounds like a Good deal.
