So I am not using NAVIgation and I still see the maps with my car location on the screen. The one option I see is where I can also show the audio info..so if a song plays it shows the station and song details on the right side half..The left side half is still the maps..I don't want to see maps when I am NOT navigating to a certain destination I programmed...I know it should be simple but cannot find the settings..
What year Prius are we talking about? I know on my 2012 I can select a number of other displays that will stay on permanently. I usually select the INFO > Fuel Economy (or is it "Fuel Usage"?) display and watch the colorful, animated "power flow" graphic.
On the gen2 it defaults to nav when you start the car unless you program it not to, on the gen 3 I never found the programming necessary as it never defaults to nav, so you must have a gen2? Owners manual will advise you how to stop the default nav screen.
Exact same setup as mine, and I have no problem selecting other screens and making them stay. There are some screens the system regards as "permanent," meaning it won't change unless you do so. Others are "temporary," such as the Audio screen that shows your presets. Audio will always go back to the last "permanent" screen after some period of inactivity. If it happens to be the NAV map, that's what it'll be. There are other "permanent" screen you can select though. Most of the screens under INFO are. Like I said, I select the Fuel Economy option under INFO and leave the nice animated power flow monitor on when I am not using the navigation (which is 99% of the time).
Mine has never had the Nav pop-up since the day I bought it unless I opened it up. Mine defaults to audio and stays there. Maybe the HDD stereo is different.
when I push the AUDIO button the song or radio station info comes as scrolling bar at the top of the map :-( But the map stays on..
Just to correct my previous posts that had inaccurate descriptions: Press the INFO button, then the Fuel Consumption touchscreen button. By default the Energy Monitor should be up, but if it's not, press that button. This will stay up indefinitely, or until you change it manually (I used the wrong button name and graphic title previously).
NO matter what I do the darn map still stays.. I played BT audio from my iPHONE and I still see the maps in the left half..check image attached..
The screen you are refering to is the map split screen which always has the map on one side. I to don't like the map screen displaying if I'm not navigating, so I changed the automatic screen change setting in the setup to 'off' which leaves the screen on the radio if that was the last screen it was displaying. BeeGees? lol I turn the display off, find it to be a distraction while driving. Also, the glare off that large flat surface is very bad.
