brake drum rust?

    My c is about 5 1\2 months old now, and the rear brake drums are already covered in rust!
    Looks quite ugly
    Anyone else having this issue?

    Most people don't think much about details... But people who do... Well that's why you're here at PriusChat.

    Specifically rusty rear brake drums in 2013? I thought all wheel disc brakes was standard? Wth?

    Anyways, no use playing victim, it's time to have fun... DIY-style.

    Pull those drums off and spray paint 'em... Or just start learning everything there is to know about: Upgrading rear brakes - ditch the drums! | PriusChat

    4 wheel disc is standard on the full size... the C has rear drums on all models.

    Drums have always gotten ugly with time. The difference is how revealing the newer wheels are.

    I walked into the back room of a machine shop once that was "turning" brake drums.Over 30 drums and all rusty.

    The drums on my wife's 05 Corolla were hideous after 105k miles. But you're right, the wheels can hide them relatively well.

    Pull em and paint em :) honestly a flat black looks really good against an alloy rim. you almost don't notice the drum at all IMHO. When painting the outside of the drum make sure to use high temp paint it will last longer.
