Finally the Plug-in arrived yesterday. Charged it all up, topped up the fuel. (the charging cable came with a 3 pin UK Household plug so I was able to charge it at home) Ready to go on a weekend trip. Will report my experience...
Right. Back from the road trip. Well if you call 322 miles a road trip. 100% of it was on the motorway mostly sticking to speed limits (95 % of the time ). The odometer says 222 miles to refill, 67 Mpg and about 1/2 a tank of fuel still remaining. When I parked my car the EV range was 6.1 miles. The temperature outside during the journey was around 5 -7 C. and the temp inside the car was set at 18 C. Not bad considering my RAV used to give about 36 mpg. Now onwards most of my driving is going to be about 5 miles every day. Hoping that the mpg rises.
i'm confused, why did you come back home with EV miles remaining? your goal should be to always deplete EV range completely by the time you reach a plug.
well yeah, because US household electricity is 110, while European household electricity is 220. Nothing particularly surprising about that.
I have no idea !!!. Was it to do with the fact that I was driving in ECO mode? If not I dont know. May be some body can answer??? Its only been 4 days and 328 miles with my Plug-in and my first ever Hybrid.
You can switch to "HV" mode to stop using your remaining EV miles by pressing the HV/EV button. That's probably what happened. While it's a good idea to keep your EV miles for city driving, as lensovet said, you should aim to use all of your EV miles before reaching a plug. You would have done even better than 67 Mpg
