Hi there! I have signed the form to purchase Prius C Three yesterday at the dealer... and I will be the owner next week! (I am waiting for the money to be transferred from my Japanese bank account.) I have a question about the extended warranty. I was suggested that I add Platinum warranty extension (from the original 3 years to 8 years) for $685 (The dealer estimated that I drive 15k miles). My previous car was used the 2005 Beetle and boy that had a lot of problems. But I do not assume that Prius would have as many problems as the Beetle. Do you think it's worth the money? I would appreciate your input!
Congratulations to you!! I just got a 2013 Prius 3 and bought the 8 yrs 75K warranty for 1400, just for peace of mind. $685 sounds too good. I think you can go for it as it will buy you less worries for the life of your car and if for whatever reason you plan to sell it before 8 yrs, u will still get a good value with the warranty in place. BTW, can you please share the dealership info for Warranty purchase? Thanks, Shakti
Hi Shakti, Oh really! Then, I guess you should go for it... I ordered Prius from Spartan Toyota, Lansing, MI. Do you think I didn't get the best value? I was quoted: - Prius C Three 2012: 21476.42 - Documentary fee & service fee: 300 - Title: 15 - Total fee: 23000 - Trade-in Car Value: 1500 (low for 2005 Beetle but yes, malfunctioning ABS and engine, broken tail lamp, cracked front part, and damaged bumpers...) - Balance: 21500.01 The details for the warranty was: - 8 years - Platinum - 0 deductible - $685
Shakti, I didn't use the reply button... hope you notice this... That sounds like a really good deal! I don't want to be a sexist but my male friend did all the negotiation. I have never negotiated so I don't know what to expect. But now I think that my Prius was priced 23000, so that's the reason why I got a better deal on their warranty... That's probably the case, right?
Thanks everyone! I got my Prius C Three yesterday and I am so thrilled! I have also found that Prius C is built in Iwate, Japan, which has been severely damaged by the 2011 earthquake. It was such a nice to feeling to see that Toyota is able to bring back business to those who were affected. And I was happy to see people's smile in this Toyota TV commercial! () In the end, didn't get the extended warranty - I guess I can trust them
