    I was under the impression from the vehicle previews that the v would have a front passenger seat that folds flat. I have a v 5, pretty much fully loaded, and neither I nor the dealer has any idea if that can be done or how.

    Does anyone know, was this removed before the car went to production?

    Thanks,

    im pretty sure you can do it so long as the headrest is removed from the top of the seat.

    Not unless there is a switch somewhere that I'm missing. Using the regular recline lever, it won't go past vertical, when you push it forward.

    That is pretty standard for all Toyota/Lexus models.

    Yeah but the brochure said fold flat front seat.

    Hey guys, I was wondering, do you think Toyota meant fully reclined? so fold flat.... backwards as opposed to the usual convention of forward?? I know the Gen 2's front seats can line up with the rear seat bottoms with the headrest removed so that you can have a "lounge" chair setup (sit in the back with your legs over the front seatback).

    BINGO! You are absolutely correct, that works perfectly, thank you. I thought I'd seen it folding forward, but I think it was videos like this (at the 3 minute mark) that confused me:

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vnr-XYcXZ8I&t=3m3s"]2012 Toyota Prius v: Interior - YouTube[/ame]

    It shows the seat in the down, then up position, and I just assumed that it was folding forward, until I looked again and realized I was seeing the seat, not the seat back, of the passenger side.

    Thank you so much, this has been bothering me.

    Haha. Yay! Mystery solved!

    I like that feature on the Gen 2 (it's a little harder on the Gen 3 but still doable). I've gotten confused and double-takes before when I lounged on the rear left passenger seat with the driver's seat folded. People aren't used to a missing driver's seat lol.

    I was pretty sure that the 2012 Prius V had a fold flat front passenger seat that folded forward. Website says 2013 still does, (the way I read it) but dealer says not. Matrix DOES as does Buick Encore.

    Sorry to dredge up this old thread, but I'm a big fan of the "lounge chair" setup, as I have it and use it with my Honda Fit. I was aware that you could do similar in the Gen 2's, and so a Gen 2 is what I have been looking for. But now it seems that it's possible with Gen 3's as well? That would significantly expand the range of used Prius possibilities! When you say "it's a little harder on the Gen 3 but still doable", can I ask what you mean?

    Thanks much in advance!

    IIRC, the front seatback sits a bit higher than the rear seat bottom compared to the Gen 2. In the Gen 2, it's practically level with the edge of the rear seat bottom (like your Fit).

    Thanks! I'll try it with the Gen 3 during my next bout of Prius shopping.
