Just bought a 2010 Prius IV and noticed these two areas didn't come with a mat or some kind of material to cover the plastic to prevent items from sliding. As well, I don't like the bolt being visible. Where can I find an oem cover/tray/mat for these areas? Something made of thin rubber would be nice. Thank you
Here are two solutions for you The under tray area has a felt mat from factory. Seems like that got lost at some point. The upper storage area has no mat. Hopefully one of these two links get you what you need. Carmate organizer tray. I have this and it works great. I'd buy it again. carmate prius 2010 | eBay eBay 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 Toyota Prius ZVW 30 Japan Non Slip Mat Set BK 470 | eBay
I have the carmate also and it is nice. A couple of DIY options would be some felt or maybe a thin rubber pad (you can buy sheets at Hobby Lobby).
It is felt. It comes in 8.5 x 11 sheets with adhesive on the back. I used paper to create templates and then cut the felt to fit. It is sold at many fabric and craft stores. Here is one I my area. Home : Shop | Joann.com
As an FYI, I bought a similar pack on ebay, except it was only like $30 delivered for the pad set for my car, not the $100 that one was. It's basically made out of mouse pads. If you were to buy like 4 or 5 of those jumbo mouse pads for $5 each at a Fry or similar place you could cut your own pretty cheap. They seem to work really well though.
Ok I went and looked up my history this is a similar listing to what I got, this one is for a Camry and it's $30, you could always contact the seller and see if he has one for a Prius again. I have done that in the past with sellers and they have turned around and relisted an item for me right away, just a thought. Non Slip Foam Pads Toyota Camry Dash Console Doors | eBay
OT - Has anyone ever come up with a definitive answer to the purpose of the notch on the left side of the upper glove box?
I received both these as private messages. The forums are meant to be forums for one person to post and many to read and learn. I am answering the questions here in the forum and not in a private message. I used standard 8.5x11” paper and a pencil to create the templates. You can jam a piece of paper in an area and draw a line, then cut that section out, then draw a new line and cut that section out, when done you will have a section of paper that fits perfect in the section you want to cover. Then you take that piece of paper and lay it on the felt. Then you cut a piece of felt from that template and stick the self adhesive felt to the section. Then find a new section and do the same thing until done. The felt I used was black. The flash does make it look gray. It looks the same as a Lexus glove box. The entire project took about 90 minutes. I now have 104,000 miles on the car and think that 90 minutes paid off.
Very nice professional job! I hope it stops those rattles that seem to emanate from whatever I put in those silly boxes!
