My new Prius V comes with the back camera and found out that the distance is not exact as I look at the LCD display screen and I can't really trust the distance and still have to look back through the back windshield window. I don't want causing accident to bump some body car when I am parking. I am wondering is't any adjustment to make it show more accurate distance, otherwise, it's total useless.
There is not a range reticle on ours. The camera view angle is not straight back, it is angled down, which gives different perspective than the view through the rear glass from the front seat. It takes getting used to, but you can see what you need to avoid.
Thanks for your reply. When I try the Toyota Vennza model, there rear view camera is different, they actually see the distance very close to the subject behind the car. In this Prius v is total lyuseless to help you for parking, it just let you know what behind the car.
I have the red, yellow and teal/blue guide lines overlaid the rear view camera image on my Prius v with Adv. Tech. Pkg (ATP). For the Prius v, the guide lines only comes with ATP optional package. I wonder if the guide line option always tied to the self parking optional feature in all prius models?
From Page 9 of 2013 Prius v brouchure: Standard Backup Camera When you’re backing up, the area behind Prius v that’s visible to the camera is displayed on the touch-screen of the available navigation system or on the audio system’s display. Offering even more assistance, the available Advanced Technology Package includes a backup camera that, with the Advanced Parking Guidance System (APGS),10 provides on-screen backup guides (pictured at right). The piture was of the backup cam with the red, yellow, teal/blue guide overlay.
