I believe the Converdant solution is 120 volts only. If you check out the link in my signature I found a solution which will give you more watts and 120/240 split-phase output. In fact I just bought a lot of 4 of those so I will have several I need to sell very soon, if anyone is interested.

Not charging the traction battery with the ICE outside of the small HV range is deliberate. For normal road use, it makes no sense to charge the battery with the ICE and then use the charge to move the car, as opposed to using the ICE directly to move the car. The latter is much more efficient, due to losses in the charging process. Using the car as generator was not what the software was designed for; it just incidentally happens to work reasonably well.

Do you mean on the forum I've linked to? Yes, I don't know why. I got the same reaction when I brought this up on another thread here, too. Its like the concept of using a car as an efficient generator is worse than suggesting that the Earth orbits the Sun and not the other way around... :p

Exactly what I said in my post. "The later is necessary for better mpgs..."

I was saying that in generator mode it would be more efficient to fully charge the battery. "...a fuller battery would mean fewer engine start cycles - less wear and less energy used to start it which is better for generator efficiency."

The article says that PIP is not compatible. Is there an option for the PIP?

Straight to your answer, standard Prius 2004-2011 but I do not see any note referring the PiP being not eligible for this. I do have one and being used as such with selected equipment.

New info related to my post above - additional brands/models of UPS, and an inverter, that are compatible with the Prius traction battery. I added the info to the end of the thread linked in my signature.
