It feels like nobody is buying this car lately, I haven't been able to get any great prices. It has me seriously considering the volt since they're both basically the exact same price at this point.

The only base models available at this point are 2013 models. Obviously you won't be able to get the same kind of deals on them like you could have gotten on a 2012 a month ago. There's nothing unusual about that.
A similarly-equipped Volt will certainly set you back more than 29k even after rebates.

2012 Advanced Prius Plug-In (new) - purchased for $36545 + taxes in San Diego, CA this weekend which we thought was a pretty good deal. With the additional $4000 in fed/state incentives that's $32545 + taxes for the advanced model. That's less than what we had expected to pay.

West Herr Toyota and Scion Orchard Park NY 14127 has a 2013 blizzard white and a 2012 blue one, the base plug ins. They didn't want to move off of MSRP so I passed, but they are about as far west as you can get and still be in NY state. So tempting. They can do everything remotely and will pick you up at the airport. I have not purchased from them so I can't speak of service but if you want a 2013 Blizzard white with no options and the NE incentives they got one.

    only next year
but what you can do is change your W4 to increase the number of exemptions so that less taxes get taken out throughout the year…just need to do some math to figure out how many.

I'm looking for another PIP Advanced. I see there are some 2012's left on the lot and looking for a dealer that offers $6,500 rebate. From what I am reading dealers in CT, NY, and NJ are offering it. Any other states I should be looking in for the $6,500 rebate? Colors are scarce and looking for a classic silver or blizzard pearl.

$6,500 offer is no longer available throughout CT NY and NJ. But I did find it at this dealer:

Toyota Discounts, Incentives | Bayside, New York

It's now $4,000 (and 0%) for buying or leasing 2013 in most places I checked, and $5,000 for leasing 2012. For some reason, just the 0% financing for buying 2012 in most places I checked.

It appears to be $5,000 in MA still. I purchased mine on Pres day and got a $500 gift card thrown in too! Acton Toyota is excellent to deal with.

It doesn't show on the Toyota website for $6,500 as an incentive on the Advanced model. But, email dealers in this area have been giving the rebate. I think the rebate ends 3/4. But, that is just me speculating.

I bought a PIP Advance from a dealer in NJ the past weekend with $6500 cash rebate and $2000 additional rebate. It came to $312xx +tax, doc fees and registration. Let me know if you wanted to salesman information. He is very good and straight forward.

After $2,500 federal tax credit, it'll be $29k for PiPA. Nice deal.

I have had a bad experience with Star Toyota. There are some cocky and hard to deal with people.

If someone wants the deal and as the last resort, then go there. You have been warned. :)
