Car is acting like a door is open, but I don't have any symbol for an open door. So the dome lights will not shut off unless I turn the overhead switch off. But this keeps the puddle lights bright, and with that, my exterior turn signal puddle lights stay on. This happened in the past, but went away. I have had door sills and the turn signal lights installed and am nervous going into the dealership they are going to blame me for this. Any ideas?
First thought is a malfunctioning door switch. Second thought is the aftermarket add-ons in terms of faulty wiring.
Checked the door switches. Each one will turn off the illuminated door sill, so the ground there is being broken (and stopping power) as it should. Is there some switch in the door other than just the rubber covered push thing? The turn signal mirrors do tap into the puddle lights and dome light for power only, they don't have any type of activation to them that I am aware of.
Did you try opening/closing the rear hatch as well? Some people have had trouble where even though it was closed it didn't register with the car being closed. Long shop perhaps but worth a try nonetheless, assuming you haven't already tried it.
That is another thing I am worried about. Speaker has been quiet for a couple days. I went out and checked each door. Slammed the hatch twice. Now the dome light is off and working correctly. I am missing something here.
I think it is possible to shut the rear hatch, just on one catch, door looks and seems shut but it is not, needs to be shut harder to actually be shut properly. maybe?
I looked and I can't seem to locate any type of switch for the hatch. Must be in the latch mechanism itself.
Went back to my installer and he took everything apart. Turns out, the passenger side light assembly of the JDM turn signal mirrors has a short in it. So with that light connected, it causes a ground. Disconnect that light, and everything works as it should. Now I get to try to get a hold of the ebayer and try to convince them to send me a replacement.
Good to hear you found the problem! Not so good, now a different problem to deal with, but light at end of tunnel.
The ebay seller said No Problem and will ship me out a new light assembly. Good to hear people stand by their products.
