Ok So we just got our Prius back from the shop, DH his a curb in a roundabout while driving in the snow. Messed up the alignment, suspension and U-joint. So now i'm trying to figure out our tire situation. Our front right tire (now left) is past the wear bar but all other are fine (obviously our alignment was off before the accident if this happened) They other tires are ok but are getting close to needing to be replaced. We live in Colorado and DH drive the car to work, now when it snows he takes our Tacoma and leaves me with the car because by the time I get up and take my DD to school the roads are usually cleared except our neighborhood which is usually packed snow or ice. I'm not sure if I should put a winter tires on or go with an all season tire like the Michelin Defender. I'm trying to figures out whats going to be safer but not super costly since we just paid to get the car fixed were tight and if I put winter tires on in a few months i'll be having to put another set of tires on. Gone is the easy life in Hawaii were we only had one season RAIN! TIA!
I'd replace all 4 as you may be able to find a buy 3 & get the 4th for a $1 sale. I don't know whether or not you need 2 sets of tires but one set is obviously cheaper than two sets.
You need to replace all 4 of the same kind preferably or at least a set of 2. Otherwise you will lose control of your car in an emergency braking/stopping due to traction imbalance.
Katy you list a 2006 Prius, but you posted in the Prius c forum. (Toyota did not make a Prius c in 2006 so it has to be one or the other.) Once we know which car, we can recommend tires.
