Hello all, Talking to the dealership tomorrow about the prius c. Would be coming over from a 2008 yaris looking for a betting MPG rating. Do about 200 miles per day for my job XD. I've read and heard that the prius c is like the yaris but hybrid style which i liked but this will be my first hybrid ever. Any pointers, suggestions, etc? and has anyone successfully purchased any Modellista parts for their C? I love the styling.
The Prius C won the most reliable car award from Consumer reports. It is a Econo box that gets 50 MPG. It will be a good car for someone who drives a lot. You may want to get a good seat cushion though. You should test drive Prius Hatchback also than decide which Is best and meets your budget. Best of luck. Let us know how it works out. Negotiate a good deal. Don't be afraid to shop for the best price once you decide.
I doubt anyone here is going to be anything but rosy haha I got my c last week. I commute 120 miles a day (not as much as you). I have halved my gas bill. Plus its really fun to drive (I would imagine similar to your yaris for obvious reasons) Good luck tomorrow

I have a friend who is a hypermiler and owns a 5 speed Yaris. Even at his best he can not come near some of my worst, mpg. Not sure why unless it is the shape of the car and something to do with the cvt. We bought the 2 and did not like the seats. So, we had padded, heated, leather seats installed. All the diference in the world, to us. Hope you buy the C. You won't regret it. Dan
I have had my Canadian equivalent of the US C4 since may. I have 17,000 kilometers on it. Not a hint of a problem. I live in a mountainous area. No problems driving up mountains. I have driven on relatively long rides from Vernon BC to Spokane and also to Vancouver. I have found it to be very comfortable. My previous car was a Nissan Versa 2009 with the same tranny (cvt) as the C. I highly recommend it. My other car (actually my wife's) is a Smart for 2 diesel 6 speed automatic. There is no comparison in the ride.
I had had a 2005 Toyota Echo/Yaris before I bought a 2012 PriusC4. Yaris and PriusC are basically everything the same except the Yaris has more power. If the lack of power during merging into highway traffic doesn't bother you or most of your driving is in the city, then you should go for it.
My former car (also a 2008 Yaris) and the wife's C says hi. The 5-speed Yaris got a consistent 42mpg throughout the 30k miles I owned it. I now have a CT200h which gets ~48mpg and my wife is now beating me with ~49 mpg. The C feels a lot like the Prius: Great turn distance and the practical yet unpopular center dash console. Coming from a Yaris, you should feel right at home.
This is only part of the story. The Yaris has 106 hp @ 6000 rpm. The Prius c has a combined system output of 99 hp (made from the combination of 73 hp @ 4800 rpm from the ICE and 60 hp from the electric motor). On the other hand if you look at torque the Yaris has 103 lb ft @ 4200 rpm. The Prius c has 82 lb ft @ 4000 rpm from the ICE and 125 lb ft from the electric motor. The way the HSD performs is different in nature from a traditional drivetrain and I really don't think "the Yaris has more power" covers it. Personally, merging onto a freeway doesn't bother me. I've never failed to be at freeway speed when merging and it has never been a challenge.
I onw a 2012 Prius C color: moonglow. I love the color. Keeps the car cool in the summertime and does not show much dust or dirt. Check out the color on the toyota.com site on the internet!
I don't know, it hardly seems worth upgrading from a Yaris to a Prius C to simply go from ~40mpg to ~48mpg. The OP indicated he does 200 miles a day, which no doubt means highway miles.

we're talking like 90% highway miles though. The Yaris gets at least 40, and the PC is lucky to get 50.
Farfle, check my sig. I drive 80% highway miles, if not more. It all depends on how you drive it. Want 55 or 60 mpg on the freeway? Drive slower. Today I got better than 70 mpg indicated on a 90-mile freeway drive with only modest decline in elevation.
