Yes the packaging is weird and pricey. Truly a bonafide sunroof should be an option. Finally, on the Toyo website, I'm invited to build my own, but it is an exceedingly obtuse webpage that plumb doesn't work. Toyota produces some great cars, but I won't be forcefed their packages, and I won't play on their website.
Putting in an aftermarket sunroof is not the same as a factory moonroof/sunroof which is designed in with added strengthening of the roof. I know it isn't likely but a rollover accident is an interesting thing to watch and more interesting to be in ... tumbling about held in by your seatbelt hoping nothing penetrates the roof structure and gets to your head. One of the things that would prevent me from buying was the presence of even the factory sun/moonroof. It takes all sorts of buyers to make a market.
I had sunroof on my first car and never again since. I always want one, but like everybody else I can't justify spending several thousand dollars on features I'm not all that interested in just to get the one or two that I want. Every time I tell myself that I'll spend the extra money on the deluxe trim level...and every time the practical cheapskate in me wins.
Our v came with the sunroof but what we wanted was the softex seats. They were way more comfortable that the cloth seats, we also liked the LED headlights with washers, the 17in 50 series tires are not the best for gas milage but the v handles great with them. Our v does not have the dymanic radar cruise, but we have it on our '04 Sienna AWD limited, well it is the dymanic laser cruise and it works great. We are very happy with both Toyotas.
I'm driving a regular Prius II but am about to buy a Prius V. I also test drove a Camry Hybrid but the mileage is a little less, plus we already have a 2005 Camry, which my wife loves. I like the hatchback feature on a Prius and am pretty much set on a Prius V 3; it looks to me that's the best overall value. Anyone had any problems with the back up camera? That's something I really miss from my 2007 Prius.
