I rotated my Bridgstone Ecopia EP100s not long ago, at about 15000 miles on these tires. The backs had hardly any wear but the front wear was fairly noticeable. Probably a bit too early to guess (at about 18k miles now) but it's looking like 40000 miles is probably about all I can expect out of these. Maybe 45k miles at a push. Does anyone else have any experience with the tread-life on these tire that they'd like to share? Thanks.
I think your projection of 40-45K miles is reasonable and is consistent with my experience. I recently bought a set of Ecopia EP422s to replace the EP100s on my 2004.
I just can not understand how can your tyres last that long? I have done only 30k km (18.750 miles) on my stock Bridgstone Ecopia and have very little thread left, I have currently winter tyres but will probably buy new set of tyres when I change back to summer, in wet conditions they were already very slippery last year. I don't drive that hard, I manage over 54 MPG in the summer.
Were they OEM tires? I wonder if the OEM tires have less tread than the ones I bought. I'm hoping to get 70000 km. At this point I'm just about certain that they'll make 60000, and fairly hopeful that they'll make 70000. Anything over 70000 will be a bonus, but I suppose there's some chance I could get 75000 to 80000 km out of them. I'll try remember to dig up this thread in about 12 months (should have about 60000 km on them by then) and let everyone know how they're holding up.
There is a difference between Ecopia tires installed on G3 Prius, vs. the aftermarket Ecopia EP100 (a summer tire) and EP422 (all-season). I think the model designation on G3 is EP20 or something like that.
I bought 4 Ecopia EP100's when I purchased my 2004 used. I also purchased a lifetime alignment package and have it checked at least once a year. I replaced my front tires at 70k, only rotated once at 10k. I still have the rears on at 88k, they will need to be replace soon. I drive 70/30 highway/city commute to work. I am very pleased with the service life on these tires and would recommend them.
Thanks TFT. So that's 70k and 88k miles right. Wow that's absolutely awesome, that's an average (from/rear) of about 130000 km. It amazes me how many miles some people get out of their tires here. I'll be totally stoked if I get 50k (miles).
A tire at 35psi is not going to last as long as the same tire at 40psi or 45psi. It would be helpful to state the tp along with the mileage.
I am running on these same tires I have rolled about 27k mi. on them. I rotated them about ~12k mi. ago and I did not notice any significant wear either way, front or back. I inflate 42-front / 40-back. I also have not really seen any improvement in gas mileage over the previous tire (0.5 mpg average higher than before), which were Bridgestone Potenzas the dealership put on new around the 60k mi. ago when I bought the Prius used. They are a lot quieter, though. Now that I have noticed.
