The manual tells me there's one under the steering column. I don't see it. Am I blind or is the manual wrong?
Thanks! I am a senior citizen and will probably need my glasses, a mirror, and some spotlights . The manual made me think it was to the right of hood release. BTW - My Touch Screen (MFD) is dead and I'm hoping it's a fuse. However, the manual shows items other than the touch screen on the same fuse, and they are working. Is it possible that a fuse could partially work?
No, fuses are either good or blown. The MFD is subject to problems based on the reports here, and a good number have had to replaced theirs. So you might be one of the unlucky ones, sorry to say. I would look into a salvage unit from autobeyours.com, if it turns out you need to replace. I am not sure why they are prone to failure, but I do know that the MFD gets cooked being under that big windscreen when the car is parked in the sun. It's like a solar cooker. (I've spent plenty of time in NC and know about that summer heat.) Just a short spell can get the dash area well up above the temperatures that are prudent for electronics longevity.
Yes. I been reading a lot about this issue. My big problem is that I have the Nav system, which seems to be 10 times as expensive as the basic model. Some people have gotten relief from their dealerships. Others have tried to pursue this with Toyota (without much luck). Time is on my side since my car drives fine. Thanks for the link to the salvage site.
