Was in a multi-storey car park this evening when I saw these two cars parked next to each other. The gap must've been 4" max! Question is, who was parked there first and who turned up and parked like an imbecile????? Sorry for poor quality phone cam pics. I'm undecided who parked last - I think the maybe the RR Sport parked over the lines and the VW Polo parked after to spite him, the Polo has its wing mirror folded in. Either way, utterly stupid parking! These are UK cars so are RHD... Looks like they will be getting in through the passenger side doors lol!!!
On Tivocommunity, there's an long running thread "What should happen to people who park like this?" of all sorts of bad parking jobs. Maybe we should have one of those here...
Sometimes one car at the end parks near or across the line and it cascades from there as other cars shift across to accommodate. After the first car leaves, everyone else wonders why these idiots can't stay between the lines. Maybe there was one such car at both ends. (I'm being charitable.) Maybe the RR driver is used to parking in tiny spaces and always enters through the tailgate? Or maybe it was Reeves and Mortimer.
The cars look like they moved between pic1 and 2? In Pic1 the RR Sport is over the line. In Pic2 it isn't? edit: ignore me. I see it now!
It doesn't look like the spots as marked are big enough for the Range Rover. However, the VW is close to the line as well. I would say it is the RR's fault for parking in a lot with spots that small. As I understand it, most parking spots are very small in the UK and Europe, so perhaps the RR simply shouldn't park in Europe/UK ;-P
There is a marketing opportunity here: "self parking cars". You leave the car before parking it, press a button, or inable an app on your smart phone, and presto, the car parks itself! Your car, with 360 degree sensor input, guides to car gently into the space. If the space is too small, the car will not move. This is not far fetched,with the advent of the self deiving Google Prius and backup sensors currently on cars, the above could be achieved. DBCassidy
Guessing VW parked 1st, RR parked 2nd. VW side mirrors are closed in. Meaning, this person parked the car then closed the side mirror. People don't close their side mirrors first so that they can park closer to a car when there is clear room left on the other side.
Ah ha! What I thought was the line is the reflection of the fluorescent light down the middle. The Range Rover is well over.
Compared to parking spaces in the US & Canada ours in the UK are really bad. You guys tend to have a lot bigger cars than the average Brit. The Prius is a fairly average size over here. Space is tight and an island only has so much room so they try and squeeze us all in like a tin of sardines! Lol
Parking skillz in Japan are extraordinary for the same reason. Japanese cars were the first with rear parking cameras with on-screen parking guides, front cameras, all around cameras, proximity sensors and self-parking for the same reason.
