:D to start with i waited 8 months and was not worried about it. the longer i waited the better my deal got. first it was 1K over sticker, then a few months later it was 2K. by the time i got my Prius the car was going for 3K over sticker. But i had ordered it and put down my $500 deposit when the demand was not so high so i locked in the sticker price. so i didnt mind waiting for it. also my car i had was no longer upside down and was putting money into it for tradein value. as we drive the 04 prius around we plan on buying a second prius just like it(but newer) so we can both have one. we will also keep the 03 tocoma for house work. what ever you decide to do i hope you feel like you did the right thing. I know i did!! :p

Try Bobby Head at Camelback Toyota in Phoenix, AZ. They have one of the highest allocations in the US (so they say). I put down a $500 deposit the last week of December and picked it up last week. Maybe I got lucky but if you are not too picky about color and packages you can get one. I had 3 packages to choose from.

Well I got my first one easy, but its been almost 5 months since I've been waiting for my barcelona....

but getting my first 06 prius gives me the strength to wait for my second one because I now know what I'll be missing if I give up and go with something else.

I know there are alot of other cool cars out there to pick from. And I know many cars have things unique to them that no other car has... but the "number" of unique things the prius has from other cars I AM CONFIDENT superceeds any other car by far, unless you have the money to buy James Bonds car... or maybe Batmans!

Now that we have the most unique car on the planet "that we common folk can afford", the next thing to consider is the gas mileage.

When gas goes up over 3, 4, or 5.oo a gallon folks with the hot rod gas gusslers will be crying as they sit in thier driveway.... "you may say thats absurd".. oh really?

Look how "so fast"... wow!, in what a short period of time it was that our price went up 1/3 to over 3.00/gallon? We didn't even have a real excuse for it to happen....It was mostly a lie... we were never really short on anything... they just used the hurricaine as an excuse....

Whats going to happen if they have a "real" excuse, or when it hits the fan in the middle east?

Every home should have an emergency flashlight..... even so every home should have an emergency car for the hard times.

Folks who wait and only keep thier gas guzzlers, won't even be able to find these cars for sale, let alone afford them if it gets really bad.

Forget the gas mileage... the prius is by far the funnest and coolest car I've ever driven!

I put my $300.00 with my dealer in August and when I heard of the the tax credit changed it to 06 with Jan delivery. The dealer put me at the end of the list and told me March delivery (in December). I went to another dealer and have a delivery expected next week. Now I just have a fight on about the $300.00 with dealer #1. Anyway I began to lose my resolve several times, but just hung in there. I am getting a Barcelona Pkg. #5. Can you tell me how the color compares to the 05 Salsa. I have checked the color chart, but am yet to see the 06 in person. Do you think it is nicer or not? Thanks....

Visited the local Toyota dealer late last month. They had four 2005s sitting on the lot and were willing to negociate in order to move them out. Are you being too selective re. model? Granted, a car is the second largest life purchase for most but it's a car, not a mate.

Not as "wine" colored, a deeper richer red that is bright in the sunlight and like a candy apple deep color in the dark and eves.

Keep in mind some candied apples look different than others.... so thats not a good description either..... but if you like red, you should like it. Salsa red was more of a type of maroon in my book.

Everybody seems to like the real life viewing much better than pictures..

There are some good threads about the color.

Salsa red is a darker garnet reddish color, looked wine red at night. Barcelona red looks, well, really red. I saw one at the dealer's lot when I picked up our silver Prius. It was a cloudy day and appeared to be a very nice warm, dare I say, blood red. (OK, Igor, back into the dungeons.)

I will have waited 5 months, come Friday. My car will be here at the end of this month/beginning of February. But 'the wait' was of my own choosing; I could have had my car in September, November, or December, but I chose to wait until 2006 so that I would qualify for the tax credit. So I'm not complaining, I'm a patient person anyhow. And I also want a very specific car-I decided since this is such a big purchase and I intend on keeping this car for (hopefully) 10 years, I would not compromise on the color (ext and int) or the package I wanted for something that was available sooner this month.

If the wait is killing you and you can't stand it, definitely get something else if that's for the best. Especially if your current vehicle is at the end of its life. :)

yea.. I should have thought of that.. I see enough of it!....

Salsa is more of a venous red.

Barcelona is more Arterial red!.... maybe that can be a new color!... you think it would be popular?

I always feel a tiny bit guilty hat I posted interest in purchasing one on Monday, got called by the dealer that Thursday and scheduled an appointment to test drive the next Monday. There were two on lot that had been "spoken for" and when we were looking at the dealer invoice for incoming cars I said that the Salsa red they had on lot was my first choice and the Blue my second. That was when his partner mentioned that the Salsa Red people had lost their loan.....poor people. I drove MY Salsa Red 05 home less than 2 hours after hitting the dealership.

You got to figure that some dude that was going to buy a Z was never really serious about buying a Prius to start with.

Maybe, but there are so many folks that are on the line of decision..... they want to do what is in their heart but when it seems so hard and it gets confusing trying to determine "if its not mean't to be" or if its just impatience that we must have a new car now!

I think there is a part of all of use that would love to go blasting around in a road rocket that ripples with muscle, but not that I've grown a bit.... my identity is more than my strength "unlike when we are young".
And what good are muscles if we never get to show them off?

Unless you live way out in the country... its a waste... and if you do, you better have lots of money to pour into it, because racing will knock the life expectancy of a car down to a mere fraction without constant money and maintanence.
But these practicle thoughts have to be earned through time to be real.

I love gadjets and fandangled cutting edge technology... I know no other way to enjoy it so much as with a prius. We spend alot of time in our cars!

I am old enough now that I know how temporary and unpracticle the thrill of a muscle car will bring. Its not like the old days, when you could have fun racing and spent hours working on your ride to make it better and faster.
And even though we are invincible "we think"... life ends really fast when we wrap our car around a pole.

Now a days if you do that and get caught just once, your insurance goes up to astronomical rates "if your young" and then sticks with you for 3 years.... kinka takes the fun out of it. One speeding ticket cost atl east 1200.00 when you see how much it knocks the rates up for 3 years! The price of the ticket is the cheap part!

To each his own, but I still think he wanted the prius,..... but we all make our own decisions and get to live with the decisions we make.

There are many who put thier order in and are feeling the same way... they are getting disenchanged, missing thier financing, or things happen.... based on that... its easy to find a prius if your not too picky... and maybe even if you are!

Might be popular with urban drivers. They do more arterial driving, right?

I guess arterial driving would be when you go home from downtown and venous driving would be when you travel towards town?.....

    Now were getting really sick!
