I know some of these questions have been posted before, but I guess I am curious of the newest update. For our 2013 Model Prius model 3 I have the following questions: (1). Back up beep, is that dealer disable item only? I read something about using a Scangauge II tool, where is the exact instruction on how to use that to disable? (2). My wife's Samsung Galaxy 2S phone will only work through the car's bluetooth system if she presses the "phone" button when she get into the car every time. Or else the phone connects to the car, but when a call is placed or incoming only the phone will work does not work through the speakerphone system of the car. Anyone else have this issue? (3). I would like to upgrade the headlight to a HID system, which is the most recommended system? Will this cause issues with dealer regarding other warranty issues? (4). I would like to have the LED DRL to stay on even when the headlight is on, I read by adding jumper wire and a diode int he relay box will accomplish this. Any other solution without jumper wires hanging? (5). I would really like to upgrade the wheels and tires (too skinny), any proven combo package people can recommend? So far in less than one month, I added a clear bra to the car, added leather seat covers (turned out great, looks original), window tint is next and looking forward to other upgrades. TIA
Be aware they will not be legal on public roads in the US. Les aerodynamic (wider) tires means less MPG, just so you know. In this case it is California law you need to be aware of. CALIFORNIA WINDOW TINT LAW - WindowTints.com
Thanks for the response. HID I am not too worried, the Prius already came with projector headlamp which is the perfect candidate for HID upgrade, the only thing that I am missing "according" to law is self level adjustment and headlight washers. Both does no good in real world anyways. I am aware of the MPG impact on bigger wheels and tires, but coming from 14 mpg the decrease would be icing on the cake for us. But to get better handling would justify the loss. I've managed to get the car to break loose couple of times already going into a turn too fast, I think I need wider tires.... Window tint no issue, since I will be only doing dark tint in the rear and light tint in the front. Thanks
Yes, you should be able to turn off the reverse beeps and extra seatbelt beeps with a scan gage. Page 9, Post 164, of this thread ScanGaugeII work on 2010? | Page 9 | PriusChat It is a long thread but there is some very good information in there, you might want to go through the whole thing when you have time. Wheels and tires, a good option would be to use the same size that come on the Prius 5, 215/45-17. TireRack.com has some good wheel and tire packages. You will take a small MPG hit but I think the extra grip makes that worth while.
Just curious if you have any pictures of your leather seats? Where did you get it from and how much was it? Thanks.
Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. What about HID question? Will need to take some leather seat pictures in day light. Will post soon. Thanks
I am not an expert on warranties but I think only the lights and related components such as the light control module would be effected. You would, of course, no longer have a warranty on those components but everything else on the car would still be covered. Just to be sure you could ask the service manager at your local Toyota dealer. I have had two cars with HID/Xenon headlights but both were factory installed. Drop down to Gen III 2010+ Prius Accessories and Modifications | PriusChat You can do a search for HID or HID conversion in that forum and find some guys who have installed them.
Here are some pictures of the leather seat and misc items. I also ordered the sunshade and the Toyota rubber mats with trunk liner from Priuschat.com Here is the leather seats, they are just leather covers that slips onto the original cloth seats, turned out pretty well. I got them from the installer that did the clear bra install for me, it was only $550 for front and rear seats. The company is call clear-pro here is their web site. Award Winning Clear Bra Installations in California By Clear Pro Here are the rubber mats. Car is dirty now so you can see the clear bra line, it covers the hood, fender, bumper, mirror, door handle pocket, side skirt, headlights, partial rear bumper I think the complete install was only $900. Never have to worry about rock chips again. I have them on all of my cars.
