I just placed my deposit on a new 2013 Prius 3 with the solar moonroof package. It took me a while to come up with a decision as to whether get the Prius Persona or Prius 4 with no solar moonroof. I am still not quite sold on the moonroof as to the way it looks when opened but I will learn to love it. I was pretty much sold on black and there are only 3 Prius 3s with the solar moonroof in California right now in black! Will post a picture up after I pick up my new baby this week. First thing I am going to do is tint all my windows. Not sure on the percentages yet. My previous vehicle a 2012 GMC Terrain ended up being a "lemon" and was bought back by GM. I will NEVER ever consider a GM vehicle EVER again. Most horrible experience ever! Hopefully my Prius will last me more than 10 years! I have never kept a car past 2 years but from what I have gathered in this forum, I feel this Prius will be my baby for a long time. Now, before leaving the dealership, I am going to have them disable the reverse beeping sound and also will be setting up my phone, setting the settings so all 4 doors unlock not just drivers side and of course making sure I know which side my gas cap is on lol. Any other suggestions as to what I should cover at the dealership before leaving? Things that I must check before? I am going to make a list as I know with all my excitement, I will tend to forget to ask much questions. Sorry for my obvious long post just super excited to join the Prius family!
Congrats. Just ordered mine too. But I got the blizzard white with sport package. I'm still a young so, I feel I needed the sporty look. I should be picking mine up within a couple days.
Congrats to both of you! It's really a great car and this forum is incredibly helpful for anything Prius...
Congrats and welcome to the Prius family! Driving experience can draw you in just by seeing. Ownership experience can only be attained by, well, the experience.
Read the Getting Started literature and the Navigation/Audio and then go drive it. And after a week of that, go read all the manuals. By then you'll have a better feel for the questions you have and the settings you want.
Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride! Sounds like you have already done a fair bit of research, good for you. At this point you know more than the average dealership in terms of the Prius.
Congratulations and welcome to PriusChat from another convert who will NEVER buy a GM product in their life again. True story: I test drove a Chevy Equinox (same drivetrain as the Terrain) before I bought the Prius and it broke down 2 miles from the dealer, no joke. The salesperson offered to let me test drive a different one, no thanks. As if suffering through 8 years of non stop repairs and maintenance on my GMC Envoy wasnt already enough to top the cake...
Thank you everyone! My car was delivered today and I am picking it up tomorrow. Did you all get the extended warranty? I am not sure if it is worth it. Any feedback on the warranty I would appreciate! Thanks!
The consensus here seems to be to save your money and pass on the warranty - the Prius is recognized for its reliability and dependability. Not to mention you get nice coverage from Toyota from the factory.
Thank you PriusGuy32! I am going to pass on the warranty as well. I gathered the same from here, I will save my money and put it in savings just in case anything comes up.
Congrats on the purchase from yet another GM nightmare. New GM product - back to the shop the day I picked it up and 46 more times in the following 14 months - until they bought it back at same price plus interest I paid on the loan. Drive and enjoy for a week or so. Then take the next couple of months and figure out what all those buttons do - lots of neat stuff to discover. Visit PC often and you'll find out things that aren't in the manual. Enjoy!
It no wonder with GM's shoddy QC that they are constantly hemorrhaging customers to their competitors. And then people that have been mistreated by these other companies end up buying a Toyota http://www.autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20121216/RETAIL01/121219900/toyota-set-to-reclaim-world-sales-crown-as-gm-vw-vie-for-no-2&cciid=email-autonews-blast
I knew I wasn't the only one having issues with my brand new 2012 Terrain! But the service department at GMC kept insisting I was the only one having issues with my vehicle, yet 4 months later GM is buying it back. HA! Can't wait to turn it in officially on Monday and tell them "I TOLD YOU SO." But on another note, I picked up my baby today and I am loving every second of it. I almost want to spend all night in my Prius but I can't because I have work tomorrow I'm a little overwhelmed with all the cool features at the moment. So I ended up getting a LOJACK on it because where I live is the #1 spot for car thieves. Sad but true and I got talked into the extended warranty. I know, I should have backed down but I have some peace of mind at the moment and will have regret later lol but being that the GMC is my second vehicle to go "sour" literally, I had to get it. I financed my car and was able to add the warranty in so my payment only increased about $8 a month or so.
labellavida, You can get a refund on that warranty if you want. I was charged $2100 for an extended warranty on my 2007 Prius. Needless to say, I got all that money back once I realized just how much they overcharged me. I also got the Lojack, but it's probably unnecessary now. Congrats on your new car!
I laughed like crazy when I read last month that one was ripped off from my dealer's lot! Turns out it was a Plus and they found it up on blocks not far away, people just wanted the wheels. I wonder if there'll be a shady market for battery packs and hybrid parts....
So I filled my car up for the 1st time yesterday, only $12!!!! I did not let it get past half a tank. I thought I read something about that somewhere on here. Or can I go longer? I just got a bit worried and was also anxious to fill it up for the first time.
You should be able to go much longer. I go by 10 gallons as others do. Take the average mpg and divide it by 10, that's how far you should be able to go, with still a gallon to spare. The gas gauge will flash at you when the dte is about 25 but I've gone 35 more miles with no issues. For me, averaging up to 52-55 mpg, I usually fill up right around every 500ish miles, putting anywhere from 9.6 to 10.2 gallons or so. You may find your mpg at the pump could be 2-3 less than the car says but it's still a ton of miles
