Went through Costco Auto program to get in touch with Magic Toyota - Magic Toyota's Internet Sales Manager told me that Magic Toyota is selling all Priuses at $500 below invoice this weekend and subsequently emailed that offer to me at my request.

A couple of hours ago, Magic Toyota sold me a Prius C package 3 (Blue Streak Metallic) to me (with carpet floor mats included) for $21,056.72 + TTL. When I signed the paperwork, the car had 4 miles on the odometer.

However, I also did TFS financing with them (3.24%) and subsequently got:
    • $1,000 "rebate" in the form of downpayment matching (Black Friday Rebate)
    • and another $1,000 "rebate" because I'm graduating ($1,000 College Graduate Rebate)
So effectively I brought home the car at $19,056.72 + TTL.

Magic Toyota did not "Nickle and Dime" me with VIN embossing, etc. Just straight up TTL after the purchase price is settled (Windows do have VIN embossing). I highly recommend Magic Toyota if you're in WA (Ask for Shane Posey - and if you could mention that I "referred" you to them, I'd appreciate it :)).

    Other dealerships I visited:
Toyota of Kirkland - I asked them if they could meet or beat the deal in the email. Sales manager went livid and started yelling at people. I subsequently told the sales person helping me that I will never come to Toyota of Kirkland ever again and will personally advise everyone I know to avoid them.

Toyota of Lake City - Despite having bought two Priuses from them previously, referred at least 4 people who bought Priuses from them, and having my car serviced at Toyota Lake City for the past 5 years, best price they could give me was $22,500 + TTL. That price includes "Green Car" package - i.e. "nickel and dime" for VIN embossing, etc. I still like them and their courteous service, but they've lost my business this time and likely in the future, too.

I finally got a Prius this past Black Friday! It's a Classic Silver Prius III with the Solar Roof package and floor mats. MSRP $28,050 plus the dealer added on Prevent-a-theft window etching ($299!) and what the dealer called the "Protection Package" ($499!!). The dealer said the "Protection Package" was the color-matched door edge guards. Really? Door edge guards for $499? I can get some chrome ones from Pep Boys for around $4. Watch out for those stupid overpriced dealer add-ons. Try to talk the dealer down on those things. I did. Anyway, OTD after all fees $27,007. I got it at Toyota of Simi Valley, CA.

I bought my 2012 Prius Hybrid II last Saturday for $22,000. $2,100 from my 2005 Kia Optima trade-in. It was a base model (but still had everything I wanted!) with floor mats and I had the remote start added in. Black exterior with light tan interior.

Bought a new 2012 Prius 4 Silver no extras, a couple of weeks ago (when gas was higher) for a family member. OTD in Southern California was 28,808 (tax rate is 8.75%). I did all of my shopping via email. I ended up having two dealers (Miller Toyota of Anaheim and Hamer Toyota of Mission Hills) offer me the same pricing (both were much lower than the majority of the other dealers I was in contact with).

I ended up purchasing from Ken Koshiro at Hamer Toyota in Mission Hills as I had bought my new Blizzard Prius 3 from him recently. I cannot say enough good things about Ken, he made the purchase experience such a pleasure.

Just an FYI for So Cal shoppers, Hamer's pricing seems to be really competitive with other Southern California dealerships (if not a bit lower than most). I do not doubt they will be able to match or beat other local dealers and if you shop with Ken you will absolutely have a quality purchasing experience (after previously interacting with Dianne, I believe Ken is even better than her in terms of the customer service experience). Ken's direct email is: [email protected]

Of all the dealers I worked with Toyota of Santa Monica was the worst. Their "no hassle" pricing was really high and when I let the sales person know where I wanted to be price wise (I ended up getting an even better deal from Hamer!) he was extremely rude about how much money they would be losing on the deal. Ugh! So glad the pricing worked out with Ken/Hamer so that I was able to purchase from a nice sales person.

Just bought a 2012 Prius plug in for 32,490. With 4k cash back the total cost was 28490 before taxes and fees. The 2500 tax credit will cover most of that though.

Are there any current incentives on the 2012 Gen III Prius Three? Are any expected in 2013?

    thanks!

Silver gray 2012 Prius 4 with sunroof 30,568 OTD 31,054 at Wilsonville Toyota last week.

I try to get it lower, but on December 29, there were not that many 2012 left. Nonetheless, I am happy with the purchase .

By the way, how can I get an after market service package from Toyota, the dealer wanted to sell a six year warranty for over 2K

Well, this site was very helpful before I bought so here is my sharing of info to give back about my purchase in the L.A. area.

Bought a 2012 Prius Three with sun roof package-list was $28,085. I paid $23,775 buying an ad car by arriving at the dealer as they were opening their doors on the day the ad ran. The car had several dealer add-ons, for example, various "protection" packages which they wanted to charge more for. But they dropped their "protection" efforts when I made it clear I was going to buy at the ad price with no additions-as required under California Vehicle Code. Got the Toyota financing at zero percent on the 2012

All the dealers I dealt with were, let's say, less than pleasant to deal. I tried going through several buying services including Costco and the prices I got for the car I ended up buying were all about the same and all about $2500 more than I ended up paying.

Keep in mind that dealer's invoice has no relationship to what dealer actually pays for the car and forget about it.

All the stuff on this thread about dealer x or y is really okay--they are all the same, just have different ways of trying to scam you. I did find the dealers in Van Nuys and central L.A. to be more unpleasant than the ones out in the 'burbs.

You got a great deal! What dealer did you end up purchasing your Prius from?

First, let me say that I am hesitant to post the dealer info because I don't think the dealer I bought from was especially great or willing to deal or anything like that. Rather, they were evidently rather unhappy about having to sell the ad car at the ad price. Apparently, the usual routine is to claim the ad car has all these expensive (and, IMHO, worthless) add-ons which you have to pay for in addition to the ad price.

Nope, California law says car must be sold at ad price. Add-ons don't matter. Dealers know the law, just often don't want to follow it.

If I were buying today I would take a look at the L.A. Times auto ads on Friday morning, early, before dealers open and look for an ad car I want to buy. Arrive before the doors open and make the purchase.

Be aware that there are several zones for L.A. Times ads and each zone has different ads. I used the San Fernando Valley edition.

    Good luck!

Just brought a 2012 Prius IV (used but only with 4k miles), fully loaded with HUD, Navi, Backup Cam, Solar Pkg .. for $23k or $25,300 OTD in Chicago, IL. Think it's a pretty good deal considering it's fully loaded for under $26k....
