I like the scan gauge because I can see the RPMs and engine temp, these gauges are missing on our Prius and should be standard equipment. I did notice the MPG gauge is way off, at least the Prius MPG gauge is off but I know if its reads 50 mpg it is actually 46-47 mpg, in summer the Prius gauge is off a little less....
Santa b(r)ought me a scangauge but ive yet to hook it up in my 2007. I'm partial to my energy screen which brought me to 67.5 mpg in my normal commute. I anticipate a new level of focus w scii and not sure I'm looking fwd to it. Ive been driving casually w our cooler weather and still keeping. 63plus. To Daytona tomorrow so I expect a plummet! Crazy to be loving my commute! Have a wedding in S. FLA in a coupla weeks so no improvements expected despite my oil chg to synthetic 5-30. Warming soon so I may use the ac again too. I know y'all up north hate that but c'est la vie
Interesting observation. Which way is your ScanGauge off on the mileage? Mine reads under a little. If my ScanGauge says 50 mpg, I got 51 when calculated. The Prius gauge will show 52.5. I have changed the "refill" to match the pump's figures. I think it was 9% I changed it. It reads right on the money now when I fill. If the ScanGauge says I need 8 gallons, I need 8 gallons. I may tinker with the speedometer on the ScanGauge a little to see if I can make the ScanGauge read correct MPG. My Ultra Gauge reads higher mileage than the Prius so I know it is way off and liberal. Dan
The Scangauge is 1970 technology. For the same price as this. You can get this That is showing the Prius electric motor/generator 1 (MG1), MG2 and the engine (ICE). Speed and temperature.
Judgeless, what product are you showing with the graphs? You say it is the same price as Scangauge but I didn't see a product name.
That appears to the the Torque app in the android app store. I just bought it and am in need of some help regarding conversions.
It is Torque that cost $4.95. Torque Pro (OBD 2 & Car) - Android Apps on Google Play A 3 year old phone from craigslist is less than $50. Or free if you’re like me and get a new phone every year. That pic is from phone I used 3 years ago. The Dell Streak. I moved to a Note 1 and now I have a Note2. And you need one of these to plug in the Prius. $12.70 - V1.5 Super Mini ELM327 Bluetooth OBD2 OBD-II CAN Auto Diagnostic Tool (Blue) - Worldwide Free Shipping on BuySKU.com
If you get an old phone do you have to have that activated phone plan ? Is there any good apps for the iPhone ?
You do not need to activate the old phone. You can install Torque over wifi on the phone. I am sure there is something out there for the iphone.
There are three apps That I have seen for the iPhone but they all run about 50 bucks . That's okay if they're good , but I was hoping someone had experience with them
I like that. With a few iphone 3 gs lying around my house maybe we can find this program and play with it. My friends sometimes call me the gadget man anyway. Thanks Dan
It seems like to me there was a thread on here a few months ago about a program using the ipad or phone. Was 50 bux or there abouts. I see several obd2 programs at the app store but not the one I was thinking about. I believe it used wifi instead of bluetooth. The screen above is a screen I would use. Oh well, might try searching the site to see if I can find what I am thinking about. Kinda hate to buy an android phone for this. I have a nice 7 inch tablet but no bluetooth on it. Dan
I'm on the brink of ordering a Gopoint BT1 (gopointtech.com) for my connection and a Dashcommand app for my iPhone 4s. By most accounts there aren't many non-jail break alternatives. It looks like it should be nice, though. - Chris
I played around with the scan gauge, now its reading about 3 mpg less than the readout on the Prius dash so it pretty close to being right on. I'll see when I fill it up in a few days.
