I've just ordered a 2004. I've been to many boards trying to find potential problems (and have found few), but on one board a 2001 owner reported that his manual said his car must be run at least once every two weeks or the main battery will drain. Is this true of the 2004 model?
There is something like that with the 2004. If you have se/ss it will drain the battery in 2 weeks without use, so you have to turn it off. Not a big deal. With any car, you are suppose to start it every few weeks.
Thanks for the reply. I assume it's not hard to turn it off and back on in this way? BTW, the car we ordered is a Tideland Pearl #9 too.
According to the Owner's Manual (page 32): I don't know what "long time" is (2 weeks sounds like a good minimum), but deactivating the SS/SE via the SS/SE cancel switch would insure that this wouldn't be a problem. The location of the SS/SE cancel switch is shown on page 3 of the Owner's Manual, in the diagram. Hope this helps!
also if you have the Auto function on the headlights your supposed to turn the lights to Off position if you leave the car idle for a couple of weeks. This is standard on the Canadian models but will eventually show up on the US ones as well.
Oh and it's not the main battery that drains it's the Aux battery, the small 12 volt one. When the car is turned off the HV battery is disconnected from the the computer/inverter circuit. The car starts by having the 12 volt battery start up the computer which goes thru a POST just like any computer and when all systems tell it they are good to go the computer connects the HV battery to the Inverter which powers the drive system.
I have a 2003 Prius in which I bought it from my sister. I rode it and drive it around. Then, suddenly I was going to drive it to school and my battery died. I had drain it because I kept the door not completely shut. How can I fixed that? Could anyone help me please?
What Tom wrote :_> Also: always lock the car when you leave it, no matter where. If you left a door open it will give long warning beep.
