Hey guys! Well.... I finally put a deposit down on a Prius! Firstly, a huge thanks to John (BritPrius) for all his help and advice. He even went out and took photos of his Prius and uploaded them so I knew what to look out for! I settled on a late 2008 T Spirit with 66k miles in the end, and I think she looks stunning finished in a deep blue. I don't pick her up until Friday but I can hardly contain myself! Anyways.... Question: The dealer thinks the paintwork is Lagoon Blue, However I think Lagoon Blue is lighter than this, so I thought this could be the Spectra Blue - anyone confirm? Pics:
Congrats, Bronze. It looks showroom new. An absolute cherry. Right hand drive is so......alien. Haven't driven one yet and may never do so.
Congratulations!! That looks like a very clean ride. Of the two blues available that year I think you are correct that it is the deeper blue. It definitely has the wow factor.
As everybody said, you got a nice toy. It is so clean and well maintained. You will love it day by day. Spend some time to go through all the old topics to understand more about this high tech toy. Must check your 12 V battery to make sure it's condition. Lots of problems are caused by this tiny cutey 12V battery. Change a new one if needed. Then you will have a peace of mind to enjoy the new toy and woun't get shock someday.
Bronze84, Congrat's on the purchase! Like the other's have said take the time to do your homework. The Prius is unlike any other car out there. Learn about all of the quirks about it and then enjoy the economy of it. Lots of little things that go unseen or unnoticed, but if you learn about it you will be able to get the most out of it for the least amount of coin! Nice color for sure: Ours looks just like the avatar I use here on PC. Cheers to you from the other side of the pond. Ron
That color appears to be the same as my car which is Spectra Blue Mica. In the US there is a sticker located on the drivers side door post with the color code. Spectra Blue Mica is color code 8M6. I'm not sure if this holds true for other markets.
Thanks for the advice guys. I'll be sure to check the battery, although shouldn't the dealership check this too?
Congratulations! Enjoy the new ride, it's a totally different experience as you work on your driving habits to maximize and economize.
One other thing Martin let us know what tyres are on the car. Jugging by the pictures you will not be changing them soon, but we can tell if they are good for fuel economy or not.
Congrats to a fellow Brit! I've got the lighter blue (pic in avatar) which according to the paint code on my door jam 8S2 is 'Seaside Pearl'. Quick google reveals another name for colour code 8M6 is in fact Lagoon blue so I suspect dealer is probably right.
Got a question already..... Sat Nav updates.... What I the latest version and where do I get it from? (And cost?) Cheers
Map updates are way too expensive IMO. The latest version will cost approx. £150. Can be found at: Toyota Map Updates You'll need some details from the SatNav CD in your car (under the passenger seat).
Oh and in regards to downloading the updates from certain questionable sites, they work for every other Toyota except the 2006-2009 Prius.
You should have a four DVD set (one in the player under the seat) and a plastic box with 3 more discs covering Europe north, central, and east. If they are not in the car ask the dealer for them "might end up with a new set" but otherwise apart from very small changes in the UK there will be no difference to justify £150. John (Bitprius).
Thanks (one again) John. One final question for now. First thing I want to do is to fit an HID conversion kit to the headlights. Are there any threads on here already on this topic?
I have not long completed this task myself, so would be happy to talk you through this, I also did the fog lamps. One of the other things that I'm sure you will want to do is fit heated mirrors, "no they are not heated, stupid isn't it they get them in California where I'm sure they need them" this costs about £25 and is more fiddly than complicated. John (Britprius).
