I installed my OGS shifter yesterday and noticed that when I plug in the car the OGS shifter stays on while the car is charging. Once charging is complete it will turn off.

    Anyone else experience this?

that's true, i wonder why power goes to the shifter assembly during charging? i 'll have to look in the car to see if anything is on with the regular shifter, although, i think there is only the overhead light.

Unless I'm mixing up names, I believe I have this in my mods thread along with a link to the thread you guys are asking for. Take a look.

Must be blind as a bat. Saw some discussion but no PICS or install description.

there is a whole thread on it. with tons of install pics and video. it's a flattish bubble shape with buttons. very attractive and easy to install. makes hitting the ev/hv button much easier too. around $125. i was thinking of installing one, but i guess this needs to be cleared up first.

My suspicion is that it is taking power from the same place as whichever control computers are presumably on when the car is being charged. It would seem a 50 mW load is probably not noticeable (running it constantly for 2 years would add up to 1 kWh, or 1/1000 the price of the unit itself).

the concern is the longevity of the lightbulbs being on an extra 3 hours per day or however long you're charging for.

LEDs have lifespans in the 50,000 hour range. 300,000 miles at 30 MPH average uses 10,000 of those hours. 40,000 remaining hours / 3 hours per day = 36 years.

And then you have to replace it with another 10 cent LED.

Hey bisco, where can you get one for $125? I've been searching but $226 is the cheapest I've found.
