If the C-Max would have been a "Grand C-Max" which Ford has evidently declined to bring to the USA, I might have purchased one because the back doors opened like those on a van. If you're interested just do a search for it. The dealers I spoke with never heard of it and said they were told only the current and plug-in versions were the only ones available in the near future.
F.udged O.n R.eal D.riving .... mpg. EPA numbers prove it. Hardly anyone with C-Max getting the 47 mpg promised. Even my boss who moved from a Honda Civic Hybrid says something is wrong with numbers. He cannot get over 43 mpg even when he tries every trick from his old Honda. I would look for a class action suit out of the C-Max owners to be filed within 2 years over false published numbers.
A heavier car and with a lot more power than the Prius V also has 10% better gas mileage? First, I thought I should have waited another year for the C-max but then I also thought it was too good to be true.
Personally, I'm glad the C-max is here and selling so well. Competition is always good for business and even better for the customer ... drives prices down and forces the car makers to improve their products in order to stay competitive.
As a reformed "always buy" Ford owner I have to agree. I'm on my second Toyota and they are so much better.
I was just reading on the C-Max forums about their issues. I was very tempted to join just to go. "Oh... you bought a Ford C-Max and aren't getting the mileage you were told. I'm driving my New Prius III and getting 60+ on almost every trip I take. That's 10+ what the sticker stated for EPA Mileage." But then I decided to be the bigger man and just walk away. Poor things. They're having to mod their cars to get the advertised mileage.

My eyes! Talk about "junk in the trunk" or "loot in the boot"! Blizzard Pearl is definitely not Kim's color.... You could sell ad space on a billboard like that....
The particular salesman I worked with worked very hard to show me the v and after seeing the back of it I told him, "No more - I don't care for the look." It looked like a Prius being dressed up as a minivan and my days raising kids are done. In my book, Ford makes good trucks, with the exception of the Ranger, which was a Taurus in a truck costume. I did not like the design of the C Max and the Energi sounds like it would wimp out quickly - they named it with a "sissy" model name by spelling "energy" the way they did. I'd feel bad for it and want to slip it some of those blue pills.... Hence I have a Toyota in the garage... proven stuff. I have another spelling experience like the "Energi" but it belongs in FHOP....
