ICE in EV Mode ... Again

so i pull into my garage with .1 on my ev range left, sweet. and i'm siiting there listening to the end of abbey road and contemplating how beautiful it is to gaze upon the ev/hv and see only green, and wondering how many miles i could go before using any gas when suddenly, wham! on comes the ice. why? i guess i must have used up the .1 left of ev, but i didn't think the ice would come on unless i put it in gear.

Oh yeah, I've had that. I mean, if you start pip in HV mode and leave it in park, the engine will warm up if needed. Even before you switch into gear.

 

but i was never in hv mode. unless it switched when it ran down that last tenth of ev. yeah, that's probably it.

 

Look, the ICE is going to go on occasionally no mater what, period.

That's the way the car is programmed. Period.

It bothers many of us, mostly because we bought it to get the first bunch of miles by electric, with no gas used, so we aren't getting exactly what we thought we were going to get when we bought it.
